for a final design idea, I thought of playing around with what would be my tag if I was to ever leave one around on the walls of London. my name shortened is nab, so it only makes sense for me to use 'nab' as my tag, my signature. this was created on adobe illustrator using the pen tool. I incorporated bubble writing font as this is a font that I am fond of when it comes to the design part of typography. my idea for this, if I was to take it to the next level, would've been to print this out in A3, colour in the letters and draw graffiti based illustrations around my name for visual enhancement!

this was another design draft that I had played around with using adobe illustrator once again. as you can probably tell, I enjoy using bubble writing font as it's cute and playful, hence why I incorporated it in this design as well. bubble writing font is a font I typically find in graffitis that I spot in my area as well as others. I also tend to spot block type of characters as well. if I was to elevate this design and take it to the next step, I would have printed this out in A3 format and drawn out a skateboarding park setting around my name. this is because when I think of graffiti, I often associate them with areas like skateboarding dams. after receiving feedback from tomaso, I explained to him how I thought that rather than digital, I should make a physical piece of work because you tend to see more physical graffiti than digital. physical is also more authentic, intimate and full of character.

playing around with another font, I liked the build of the letters 'a' and 'b' here however, I was not too impressed with it. I wanted to create something more than a tag design, so I thought of other potential ideas

sketch of a hand - we get given things and we hand things. hand here with soil in the palm is a very comforting imagery, almost like the hand is nurturing the soil

flower is blooming from the soil! sprouting flowers often symbolise new beginnings and beautiful things. the theme I want to communicate is... HOPE! many graffiti works I've seen usually resemble hope through one way or another, especially Banksy's work. the flower is slowly pushing through the soil here, meaning that whatever obstacle comes our way, we have no choice but to push through.

adding colour to the flower. I wanted something vibrant here as all attention must be on the flower that is sprouting. I chose to keep the hand colourless, it is up to the viewer to imagine what colour they'd want the hand's interior to be filled in. yellow for the colour as it's vibrant, bold, neon - like, like graffiti.

added themes from my essay in this format around the flower and in the interior of the hand, simply for design purposes. this design is meant to be my own mural that I'd spray paint if given the chance. a flower has chosen to sprout from the soil within the palm of the hand and this is meant to symbolise hope and beauty amidst struggle. I've seen the resilience of the Palestinians through content found on social media platforms and although they go through torment every day, battling new obstacles, they never fail to have and show hope in one way or another. this is just 1 example behind my thought of wanting to include the theme of hope within my design. I've added a graffiti - like heart and crown, to bring back a graffiti based environment to my design and the colours incorporated are black, pink and red. they're very bold colours that are generally found in graffitis, hence why I have applied them in my own design.
