Daoism was invented by Laozi, the anonymous editor of Daodejing and Zhuangz and was being practiced from 500-400 BCE. Daoism was the Chinese Philosophy that developed from a folk religion for the people primarily in the rural areas in China. It also became the official religion of the country under the Tang Dynasty. Daoism was both a religen and a philosophy.

The Qin Dynasty

The Qin Dynasty was the first Dynasty in Imperial China where it united the seperated states of China. The Qin Dynasty also ended constant warfair and was the decline of the Zhou dynasty. Shi Huangdri founded it and his reign focused on insentivising the lower class to help him build things like roads, and calals which helped things like trade and travel. Those things helped create and build The Great Wall of China, and the Grand Canal. The workers also created Huangdri's tomb and the Terricoda army that surrounded his tomb. The Qin Dynasty was from 221-206 BCE.

The Shang Dynasty

Goverment - Thoughout the 600 years of the Shang Dynasty 29 or 30 kings total ruled. These kings had officials who served under them and were given authority in different positions.

Social class - Like many other cultures during this time the social class was controlled by a hiearchy. From top to bottom, royal family, Nobels, warriors and leaders, artisans, farmers, then slaves.

Religion and culture - During this time Shang Di was the supreme God, and ruled over the gods of nature forces. Because he believed in after life and ancestor worship the people did too, even though there ancestors belived in heaven and after death.

Down fall - Zhou invaded the capital. The people started to believe that the king Shang was evil, so his drinking increased, indulgent lifestyle, and imortal behavior.

The Zhou Dynasty

The rise-

Zhou rebelled against the Shang Dynasty and claimed that heaven gave him authority to rule - also known as the Mandate of Heaven - thus the rise of the Zhou Dynasty began, which was the longest dynasty in China. Zhou demonstrated the right to rebel and Dynastic Cycle lasted until 1912.

Mandate of Heaven-

The rulers were selected to authority from the god of heaven or sky to be able to come to power.

The Dynastic Cycle-

The dynastic cycle consists of 3 periods the new dynasty which restores cities, trade, and protects the people, the next period is the aging dynasty which is where everything loses control, the government goes bad, so do cities and the taxes rise very high. The third and final period is the old dynasty which is where everything falls apart completely, they are unable to defend themselves, and corruption happens amongst the people.

Inventions/Innovation-

Throughout this time many significant changes were made the main ones being in agriculture and Chinese literature.

The fall-

A huge cival war broke out causing the economy to fall apart, it created a strong need for neew social role models.
