They wanted to make their own Church and not be owned by the Roman Catholic Church. The pilgrims held secret meetings to make their escape. They succeeded but had trouble along the way, since they had to go through being imprisoned for 3 weeks and the women and children being taken to Boston without cloths nor money. They escaped and aimed to make a settlement. Once they arrived at their new home they called it Plymouth.
