It can be said that this photo causes a break in the strength of the African culture. Why? Because it exemplifies the fact that they can be dominated and changed. Contrary to the European culture, which can now foresee a more bulwark stance of their culture considering that others are in a sense turning into them and what they stand for.

The false caption gave the British a false belief about the culture of the Africans. The British thought that Africans were leaving their cultural ways behind and joining the life of the British. Instead, the Africans still kept their cultures, even with the queen mother, and only seemed to be taking on some parts of the British culture.

The photo is a representation of what one family can become with the influence of the Europeans. African Culture is being assimilated in a negative way that puts a cap/lid on what these African people can practice or do.

Therefore, they will gain more support and money for their expeditions. Although, for the African it is not very beneficial as it actually does the opposite.
