         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>The election of 1800- Thomas Jefferson beat John Adams to establish a full democratic-republican government</li><li>Judiciary Act of 1801- this act created more seats on the judiciary committee which Adams filled with federalists in order to keep his own political agenda alive</li><li>Midnight judges- these were the judicial appointments of John Adams after the act of 1801. they are referred to as this due to the late times that Adams appointed them at</li><li>William Marbury- he was one of the several Midnight judges appointed by Adams</li><li>Judiciary Act of 1789 and The Writ of Mandamus- this original act set the judiciary committee at 6 people and allowed the court to issue a writ of mandamus, which forces courts to uphold the law or correct abuse</li><li>Thomas Jefferson and James Madison- Jefferson told Madison to not deliver documents to Marbury and his associates to prevent Marbury's corrupt party from taking office</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Margaret Gilleo, an anti-war advocate, placed a sign in front of her home with anti-war statements. The city of Laude forced her to take it down, which she responded to by suing Laude for stripping her of her 1st amendment rights. the court, using judicial review, voted in favor of Gilleo. this is an example of judicial review, as the court upheld the law by respecting the guidelines of the 1st amendment </div>]]></description>
