Empezo cuando personas de Espana vineron a Centro Mexico y presentaron su religion Catholicas a los nativos. It was the eve of their new year and was originally called Samhain, and on Samhain it was told that the boundary between the living world and the dead world became blurry allowing the ghost of the dead to return. People wore costumes and told fortunes around a large bonfire set for the festival. Later the Roman Empire conquered the land and mixed their traditions of honoring the dead with the festival. Hundreds of years passing with the large Christian reformation in Europe, they too mixed their religious beliefs and traditions of the dead into the festival. Having a mixer of all the different traditions of the Celtics, Romans, and Christians. Over time it became less with worshiping the dead and wording off the ghost of the dead, and more of a friendlier and less traditional holiday. The day of the dead is more of a holiday to celebrate the dead and honor them for what all they have done in the past. While Halloween is more of a festive day that we have to get candy and have fun. If thought about there really isn't an special reason that we celebrate it for unlike the day of the dead. It has a purpose to it that is deep and embedded into the the culture that celebrates it. Also there are multiple aspects to the day of the dead that we can't fully comprehend because we don't celebrate it. It brings whole communities together for a couple days while Halloween isn't able to do that. Writing in Spanish for three of the columns was challenging due to me not usually writing that much in Spanish for one specific topic. I tried to just write as I went along but that proved to be a little difficult, helping me realize that I should've actually planned ahead instead of diving right in. I had a little trouble changing the information I fund into my own words and then into Spanish sentences. Writing long complex sentences in Spanish was also an issue.
But learning about those two holidays and what they both originally meant and how they came to be was interesting. How they both started somewhat similarly but ended up completely different.
