Money should pay no part in how any of our children/young people achieve and experience their education. We aim to pay close attention to the Cost of the School Day. We will be transparent with our parents and carers about any possible financial cost which may come up during the school year and ensure that anyone who cannot afford a particular cost e.g. for a residential trip, will have our full support in ensuring their child can still take part, regardless of cost. No child/young person will miss out on any aspect of their school life because of a lack of money.

• Provide stationery for everyone in all classrooms (pencils, papers, folder, Homework resources, books)

• Homework will not include any projects/arts and crafts. Any resources required for homework tasks will be provided to ensure homework is accessible for all.

• All educational excursions will be zero cost for all families.

• We will not visit the shop during an educational excursion and children will be encouraged to take up a free school meal (where applicable) to take on the excursion.

• We will maintain and build our school uniform bank, to allow families to access uniform at zero cost.

• We will endorse badged and unbadged uniform items from a range of suppliers.

• Hallowe'en / Christmas / seasonal items will be available for families to take at no cost. Eco Committee to support and encourage Swap Shop.

• ParentPay used for any donations/contributions to fun events or Charity collections. This ensures children are unaware of who is paying. Parents will have time to pay up any costs over a period of time to allow payments to be spread out.

• Fun events within the school will always allow everyone to participate.

• All After School Clubs and Lunchtime Clubs will be zero cost unless provided by private coaches.

• Free Breakfast Club available for all families, extra toast will be available for all at 9am for anyone who needs it.

• Healthy snacks will be available at the School Office for anyone who does not have one.

• As a Nurturing school, we will continue to support all families through our Pastoral Support and open door policy, especially at important times such as Christmas and during transition.

• All communications from the school will be worded sensitively and encourage families to seek support as and when required.

• Additional supports will be available to support families through our community links with SVDP.

• Our Pupil Equity Fund will be used to employ a Barnardos worker to continue to support families.

• Pupils will be encouraged to take up free school meals (P1-5) and all leftover food will be offered to pupils.

We ensure all our staff are Poverty Aware. We are constantly raising awareness and exploring how we can reduce costs whilst ensuring we are not taking away fun learning experiences for our pupils.

All staff take part in training on this subject either in person through the CQIS and/or online through the NHS Child Poverty Learning Hub. All staff will receive an annual update on Cost of the School Day each August from August 2024.

This year our School Community voted to put our PB Budget towards School Trips.
