By: Anna
One thing I learned about the water cycle is that water vapor is formed from liquid water. After the vapor rises, it goes into the clouds and make them really heavy. When they become heavy, it starts to rain and the rain goes onto the ground. The water on the ground then turns into vapor, and that's where the vapor water forms. The water on the ground also needs sunlight or heat to become vapor.

                                                  By: Via M.
Today I learned that water can be a solid as ice, gas as steam or fog, and liquid as the water you drink every day. I also learned that water is really billions of years old and is continually recycled in the water cycle. The water cycle is when a type of body of water evaporates and becomes water vapor, a gas, because of heat and rises into the atmosphere. Once high enough it condenses or gathers together and becomes a liquid no longer a gas and forms water droplets. Then they fall back to the earth or ocean as rain.

                                                     By: Via M.
In my picture of the water cycle there is first runoff flowing steadily off of an island. It starts far up a mountain as a stream and then eases it's down to the ocean. On the far left there is the sun and the ocean. The sun is giving off heat which is causing the water underneath and next to it to evaporate or turn into a gas, water vapor, and rise into the atmosphere. Then as it gets farther up into the atmosphere it starts to condense or gather together to form small droplets in side of already formed clouds. Then winds blow the constantly growing clouds East towards the small island, more specifically the mountains, and as soon as they get right above the mountains and to the West of them they get to heavy to hold anymore water and it rains above the mountains. This is called precipitation. Then the water from the clouds roll down the mountains into a stream and into a river which both lead to the sea which is just more runoff. Here is a picture of me with my illustration.

Another thing I learned is that when the water evaporates it turns into water vapor that turns into clouds that we see today.I learned that clouds condenses and are about to turn into liquid from gas. Then when it gets to cold in the atmosphere the water that evaporated connects together then it gets prepared to precipitation into rain drops . Then the clouds turn gray and the cycle starts all over again.

                                                     By: Via M.
Water can be a liquid like the water you drink every single day. It is not solid and you can see it. It needs to be in a glass or bottled so that it won't spill but spills definitely happen. For water to be a liquid it needs to be not to hot and not to cold. It needs to be 32 F - 212 F. Water can be a solid to like ice. Water is a solid when it snows, hails, and sleet falls down from the sky. Water is also glaciers which is just a gigantic block ice that is floating in the ocean. For water to be a solid it needs to be 32 F. and below. Water can alsooooo be a gas as water vapor. Water is a gas when say one of your family members is making soup or pasta and needs water to boil and they put the pot lid on and the water as it boils some evaporates. Then once they take of the lid a hot steam rises into the air. that is water in a gas form. That steam is water vapor. For water to turn into steam it needs to be above 212 F.

Because of the heat A large portion of the oceans evaporate. As the water evaporates clouds form and because it is so hot they don't rain, the water just keeps evaporating and the clouds just keep getting bigger and bigger. As the clouds keep growing and collecting more and more water the winds blow the HUGE clouds toward land. As soon as the hurricane or large mass of spinning rain clouds nears land the effects start. Before the hurricane even comes onto land it sends storm surges. Storm surges are almost mini tusnamis. They are large distructing waves. Depending on how large the hurricanes are the bigger the storm surges. Once the huricane comes onto land the rains start. Some people called storm chasers risk their lives and chase after and even search for some of the most dangerous storms. They are the people who get the information for weather channels and the news. Here are some storm chasers that risked their lives and went into the eye of Hurricane Irma to collect information about the hurricane.

Hurricanes mostly form during late summer. It forms when water evaporates when it's too hot. Then evaporated water creates clouds and then it gets too big.Wind starts making the hurricane move to a state near the coast. One of the worst hurricanes was Hurricane Katrina.Hurricanes form on the ocean. It does this because an ocean is so big that lots of evaporated water goes up and forms a cloud.

What causes a hurricane.A hurricane forms over the ocean. Usally this happens in summer. It happens in summer because the sun is at its best. The water from the ocean is evaporating to make a cloud. The water will keep evaporating though and the cloud will get bigger and winds will spin it around until it reaches land.

The little particles when it evaporates goes into a cloud and come together and it gets bigger and bigger until it reaches land .

By: Anna
A hurricane starts at the end of Summer. August through out September. It's like this because at the end of Summer, the ocean is warmest, and the sun is out. The water will evaporate quicker because of the warm water. It would start to make clouds when it evaporates. The wind will be really high and make the clouds come together. It would start over an ocean then make way to land. The warm air will go into the hurricane and the cold air will try to replace it and it will keep going.
