After some annoying security checks we boarded our first plane for the day, or we would’ve if it weren’t for everyone wanting a snack before flight. We did our best to get as much sleep as possible in our flight, but 2 hours didn’t do much to make us any less tired. Our next much longer flight also had much less room for error. We managed to get everyone in the plane on time, thankfully. After reaching our destination, we had to go through, guess what? more document filling, yaaay. After that hurdle we settled to our rooms, they weren’t… great…. They were perfectly serviceable, but they were as basic as a room could get. After some early morning french lessons we headed for the tower. After climbing who knows how many stairs we finally made it up, because of the firework show planned for a few days later, we were not allowed on the highest balcony, but the first and second ones were more than sufficient, we ate some snacks did some souvenir shopping and took many photos. After that we walked over to the champs elysees(most of us didn’t actually see it) and had an hour to do some shopping in what has to be at least close to the most busy streets in the city, louis vuitton cartier as well as a huuuge nike store, the majority of which were a tad too expensive for most of us but we still managed to pick up a few nice things. We did some shopping, explored the huuuuuge cathedral, which was filled with interesting     exhibits and some lovely looking stained glass, and we followed that up with even moreeeee shopping. We had more time to do whatever we wanted this time around so it was even more enjoyable than yesterday! Disneyland was the part of the trip I was most looking forward to, I’d been planning this day for literal years, and I would finally be able to fulfill my dream and go to disneyland! I can’t really speak for all of us for this one, since we all dis different things, so I’ll just write about my own experience with a fee mentions of everyone. I was planning on going around myself but I decided to take our three teachers along, since they were soooo busy making sure that the trip went well, especially miss vanessa, the trip just wouldn’t be possible without her efforts. We started out my crossing main street usa, well we would’ve but the thirteenth anniversary parade interrupted us, so we stated to watch it, it was pretty fun, but not exactly the best for disney standards we but as the parade neared it’s end we decided to take advantage of the fact that the crowd is occupied to cut the cue on one of the more popular rides, in this case big thunder mountain over in frontier land, which would normally be our last stop but due to… last minute changes…. So I had to reversed the route.  Big thunder mountain still had a loooooong cue but after some waiting we finally made it on the train, and wow the wait was definitely worth it, big thunder mountain is a roller coaster known for its high thrills and western theming, which I sadly can’t…… replicate in a blog post like this… But it was veeeery enjoyable to say the least. We than went to phantom manor  which is your classic haunted house attraction, about a woman named constance who has married 5 husbands who have all mysteriously disappeared leaving a pearl necklace behind. After that we headed over to pirates of the caribbean in adventure land, which is a boat ride taking you through the scenes of the movie, a slow ride for the most part with some drops sprinkled out. The animatronics were pretty impressive displays of technology  too. After that was dine with we found our way to the mad hatter’s tea cups, a very iconic ride even people who’ve never been to disneyland are somewhat familiar with this ride, the teacups spin, spin and spiiiin after quite the dizzying ride we took a semi secret passage through the castle to see some wonderful looking stained glass of sleeping beauty’s story. We had our lunch in market house deli, ate some delicious muffins and cookies, and did some shopping in the emporium. Afterwards we went to discovery land, we had to split for a while since our next stop, space mountain is renowned for being the most thrilling ride of the park, so I entered the cue while the teachers went to a star wars vr attraction. Space mountain was an AMAZING attraction, the ride takes place in pitch dark, with lots of loops and wuick turns.. and wow it was an soooo much fun. After regrouping we left the main park to head over to Remy’s ratatouille adventure in walt disney studios, a fun ride through the movie plot, with cool 3d glasses to elevate the experience. But alas our day in disneyland was nearing its end so we had to leave the park. But our day wasn’t done just yet, we still had a paris at night tour to go! We woke up and took the metro to see the military parade, well not the parade since out teachers didn’t want us to get into a crowd of 2+ million people, so we only saw the airshow which was still pretty impressive.Afterwards we had to wait a bit for the metro to open so we stopped by a cafe to pass some time by. After getting a quick early view of the louvre we boarded our metro and had to make a mad dash to the docks to make it to our boat ride in time. We than saw a few landmarks of paris such as an excellent view of the eiffel tower and notre dame. After our little trip we went back to the school and took our showers and went to a nearby restaurant for dinner.
While stuff like cheeseburgers and club sandwiches were on the menu, I decided to go with some slimey snails and steak tartare,( which is basically uncooked steak) gotta have the fuuuull french experience while I’m in paris I though! And when the snails finally arrived…. they were pretty tasty! But deciding that the expressions of my piers would be better, I walked around table by table offering some sNaILs. You would expect something as… unique as snails would  only fit the most  exotic palettes, but out of the 5 people brave enough to try them, 4 enjoyed the taste of snails, turns out if you can get over the fact that they are.. you know snails they can be quite tasty. Next was the steak which was also surprisingly good, a lump of raw meat sounds gross but when served with pickles, salt and many other spices it can be just as delicious as regular cooked meat. One of the employees was kind enough to reward me with a free crepe for daring to taste some of their national dishes. I, again can’t post every painting we saw there so my descriptions will have to do…. We saw the famous mona lisa (which was a lot smaller in person) Venus de milo and plenty more.
