Today we talked about the opportunities of how to involve the idea of international learning into classroom. As a teacher the idea of making pupils a global citizen should be put more into focus. The booklet offers me many ideas for different topics and also the required skills. My task is to convince other teachers at my school to change their focus on international learning, which is very difficult as there is the curriculum, the exams, the grades . Still there are possibilities to integrate internationalism into school

This week, piece by piece, we have explored how we become global citizens and how we can carry them on. Rita's particularly succinct and expressive input provided a good foundation for our discussions. We were able to develop new points of view and reflect on what we already do. Since we were also able to experience the content at this incredibly special spot with all its beauty, variety, and ever-evolving culture, we had the opportunity to emotionally understand our knowledge. This is especially important for sustainable learning and hopefully always reminds us to make it possible for our students as well. The authenticity, openness, the self-confidence and the great joy and hospitality have deeply impressed me today.
Personally and professionally I take a lot with me from this week ... and also these two levels influence each other permanently ...
When I'm back in the frosty Germany I've decided to continue to learn guitar ... to produce less garbage ... to be more authentic ... to stop smoking ... to continue to engage politically ... in school I would like to introduce a new teaching subject (responsibility) ... add more global content to my teaching ... a project week to organizing global citizen ...
Many many ideas are in my head ... it will certainly be different but I keep in mind Rita's phrase "Try your best!"
and "The future depends on the moment!"

#global citizens #why is international learning important? #speechless #think out of the box
#we are all humans
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzZKj7IHBAs

To explain what I learned in the last week and especially on Friday, I have to tell a little bit about my own scholarly life.
I was and I am very lazy when it comes to doing tasks that make no sense to me personally. If I was rated and did not agree with my assessment, I questioned them!
I was and I am very critical of myself and my environment. Teachers have perceived this either as enrichment or agonizing extra burden.
When I coincidentally become a teacher, I still had this very present in mind and took the teachers who saw me as an asset to the model.
This has meant that it is very important to me to give my students the greatest possible transparency. I am pleased with critical inquiries, listen to them and allow discussions. It is important to impart knowledge, but more important is to enable students to critically deal with knowledge.
I agree with Percy Farren and I agree that students have an interest in playing a positive role in society. In order for them to do so, it is important to convey values and the ability to live those values.

Global citizenship requires everyone to be councious and active. Just existing does not make us citizen in a society, we need to take responsability of those who are around us. We do need to act locally, but still think globally: whatever we do can either small or huge effects, but it will have some effect. With students, we must show them that it is important to act and change.

Unfortunately, I was not able to attend today's event as I had to go see the doctor. Again, I noticed that things are handled differently here than in Germany. When I arrived at the cabinet medical, I learned that you just sit in the waiting room, ask who's in line before you - and wait, until you can enter the doctor's office. There is no receptionist, there is no assistant, but the system worked like a charm.

Although I had to wait for quite some time, it was worth it, the doctor was very good!

“Think global, act locally.”

I think it depends on the little actions. To give students the idea of globalization on a small scale. I think they can learn a lot about each other's cultures. And on that basis, then look at globalization.
For me, the central idea is how to deal with other cultures. Do I live at their expense or do I look for regional products? If the products can not be sources locally, then you should look for a Fairtrade signet.
