This picture taken of the Enginerring and Technology building tight after an event had taken place is, to me very reminiscent of places you'd usually see large gatherings. Places that come to mind are expo centers with large open areas, airports with long corridors full of people, and train stations that look similarly to this picture of the Engineering and Technology building. Yet at the same time the building is also a relatively quiet place, with students passing through to get to their classes concealed along the sides of the massive corridor.

Health Professions, Mount Pleasant, MI

For our project, we were inspired to look at various architecture on campus and how it relates to the purpose of the building itself. I chose to do the Health Professions building because it is a place that I seldom get the chance to explore. For the most part, I expected the building to be a cold and sterile environment, like what you would expect out of a hospital. But instead I found a warm, glowing building, full of beautiful architectural features. This area looked out over the first floor and made it seem as though the space would stretch on backwards forever. The modernity of style was a reminder of the constant evolution of medicine and the practices being pursued by our peers. The alignment of the welcome sign within the glass of the railing lended me the perfect opportunity for a picture. The spacing and lining of the columns and railings is reminiscent to a chemical compound, something that would be studied in this building.

Health Professions, Mount Pleasant, MI

This was another photo taken from the second floor of the Health Professions building. The walkway overlooks the first floor below, and from it you can see the staircase. The windows open up the space, letting in ample amounts of sunlight. I really enjoyed the grid structuring that was happening in both the layout of the building and in the smaller features that make it up. The ceiling is a grid of equally sized squares that are all hollowed out, creating a honeycomb effect. The panes of the windows are all alike in their precise rectangular shapes. Even the wooden dividers between the windows are laid out in the same shapes and line up with the windows next to it. Overall, the building has a pleasing geometric layout that makes it easy to navigate and nice to look at when you're walking to class.

As you walk into the Education building you walk into this section. I took this photo late at night and I imagine people passing through this area and making groups in their tables and rushing to get to class. You can see that this area leads to a hallway which leads to more places to sit. I normally don’t go to the Education building so I’m assuming that this is a mini area where people go sit and eat after picking up some coffee or something.

Moore Hall, Mt Pleasant, MI 48858, USA

I tasked myself in this project to look at Moore Hall. What I previously thought of this building slowly turned out to not be true the deeper into the building I went (if it is not apparent, I am never in this building for any classes). Initial impressions from the little classes that I had in the building was poor, feeling like a building with the sole purpose of housing classes that no other buildings would house. As I went through the building it was somewhat true! And that's not a bad thing. For the most part, past the "open canvas" classrooms on the first floor lay many rooms dedicated to all sorts of communication and media professions. From CM Life to multimedia labs to drone rooms, there was lots more than initial impressions suggested. While not the prettiest or most stunning building, I left Moore with a much better impression that what I came in with.

Biosciences Building, Mount Pleasant, MI

When you walk in the Biosciences building this giant wall of green is the first thing you see. It’s very pleasant up close and almost comforting. Just beside this wall of leaves are chairs where you can sit, study, and enjoy the view.
