Bias when recruiting for positions at a company or corporation is a very important HR issue for both the business and the individual applying. It is crucial that during the interview process that no questions are asked that may lead to a decision that would have ultimately been different. In attempt to reduce bias when hiring, it is important for HR employees to try to take outside opinions from other perspectives to really understand what the person applying may bring to the table at their company. If a person feels that they may have been discriminated against during this process and was not hired for these reasons, they may be able to press legal action against the company for these issues.

The onboarding process is a very important part of Human Resources because it allows employees to smoothly get started in their positions and learn their job. This process would include meeting other employees, orientation, and any training needed before you get started in your position. This process is important because, if skipped, may lead to the employee becoming confused about their place in the company because they did not have a proper introduction to the company.

Discrimination is a crucial HR topic because it can become a serious problem in the workplace, leading employees to feel uncomfortable in their environment. This can occur throughout the hiring process or during a regular workweek, and should always be reported. It is important that all employees feel respected and comfortable in their workspace; neglecting this can lead to serious problems for the company and employees. When a problem is reported, HR employees must take it seriously and make sure that their employees feel heard.

Giving and receiving good feedback in the work environment is essential for learning and growth for both the employee and the employer. Setting up performance evaluation systems is a very important part of giving fair and relevant feedback to your employees. This allows the employer to track an employee's performance and find areas they can assist their employees. Also this lets the employee know how they are doing and highlights areas that may need improvements. Giving constructive feedback is very important because as we know employees do not respond well to mean criticism.

This topic is one of the most important core areas of Human Resource Management. Learning and development is a process that helps enhance employees skills, knowledge, and capabilities in the workplace. Learning involves the attainment of constantly picking up new things through experience when working and furthering your knowledge by studying and teaching others. Learning and development go hand in hand. However, development for our employees is aimed to be a long-term goal where employees have their own personal goals and goals yet to be achieved. A great way to maximize learning is by using the 70/20/10 model. This meaning that 70% of learning comes from work-based experience, 20% displays developmental relationships, and 10% comes from common coursework in formal educational training.
