O Life!", Walt Whitman wrote in depth and detail about the ways people can impact the world around them through their own verse. Whitman even addresses those who feel they have no purpose in life, which stood out to me the most because there are times when I feel this way and its difficult to stay positive. His answer was that everyone has their own purpose, even if it is discovered later throughout their life. This also applies to the movie "Dead Poets Society", where each character had a purpose and contributed a verse, even those who didn't feel like they had a purpose, such as Todd Anderson. I will be volunteering through a pre-nursing program and at nursing homes and doing everything I can to help people feel their healthiest. I also try to go on environment cleaning/replenishing projects in which we plant trees and clean up litter that has a negative impact on the environment because I strongly believe we need to take care of the planet we live in.  In the future, I also plan on going through nursing school and helping patients in hospitals and clinics. I also have goals for traveling to different countries to help those who are less fortunate, giving them a chance to be happy and helping them overcome the challenges they experience throughout their lives. Thesis: Transcendentalism communicates the process of contributing one’s own verse to society but also maintaining individualism and self-reliance, which are known as a few of the most important values known to man. 

 “In the presence of nature, a wild delight runs through the man, in spite of real sorrows. Nature says, — he is my creature, and maugre all his impertinent griefs, he shall be glad with me” (2). 

“It takes me by surprise, and yet is not unknown. Its effect is like that of a higher thought or a better emotion coming over me, when I deemed I was thinking justly or doing right” (3).
