Hello my name is Ayah and I abide by the HFC Academic Integrity Policy for this entire semester. I understand that plagiarizing is not allowed and my work must be in my own words unless cited and not from classmates or by any form of AI. I am proud of my own hard work that I will be completing throughout this semester.

When skimming through my Holland Code Test #2, the first thing I viewed was my scores for each of the 6 basic interest areas. The type of work environments it recommended for me are nowhere near the field I want to work in. Some workplaces that were suggested for me were art director, interior designer, journalist, photographer, etc. Now I do understand why these careers were recommended to me and why my highest score is a 12 in the category Artistic, because I do really enjoy art, but it’s more of a hobby to me and not something I'm interested in as an actual job.

Now looking at my Holland Career Test #1 results, it stated that my highest score was in a Social Occupational workforce, and it recommended me jobs like Industrial Organizational Psychologists, Speech Pathologist, and marketing. This is surprising because I actually enjoyed and thought of majoring in psych back in high school, but things have changed for me and I’ve also had some experience in a pediatric therapy center. I found these results more relatable and suitable for me compared to the second set of results.

# 3: What is the most important piece of information you learned from Chapters 13 & 14 ?

The most important piece of information that I learned from chapter 13 and 14 that will help me live my life to the fullest is the importance of taking care of yourself mentally and physically to live a healthier life. As I get older day by day I learned that it’s important we keep on trying to improve our brain activity by setting goals for ourselves to continue learning new things such as how to play piano, do crossword puzzles, journaling, etc. All these tasks help improve our motor skills and memory. The best thing anyone can start doing right now if they haven’t already, no matter what age you are is to exercise. Being physically active is one of the best and most important things you can do for your health because it can improve your body strength, brain activity, and decrease the risk of diseases. In chapter 13 section 13.3 page 345 it states that “To preserve their cognitive capacities, adults should take care of their health, become physically fit, and seek out stimulating work.” This is why it’s very important to do some sort of physical activity and stick to it even if it’s just for 30 minutes a day. This will help us tremendously in the long run, as our bodies tend to get weaker as we age.

# 4: The Real Age Quiz

When I got done taking the Real Age Quiz, it gave me a biological health age of 20 years and 5 months, (3 years and 1 month younger than my age) . I was surprised, but at the same time not really, because people often tell me I look younger than I am. The interesting part is that people were basing their judgments on my looks, whereas the Real Age quiz judged me based on personal information I provided. One of the most helpful things I learned from the quiz is how to best care for myself to stay young, healthy, and fit. The quiz provided me with a list of things that were making me feel older, such as having a bad sleep schedule, not managing my stress, and being around people who smoke (secondhand smoke). These are three things I plan on working on and changing. The quiz made me realize things I didn’t know were affecting me.

After taking the Living to 100 calculator quiz, it told me that my life expectancy is 88 years. I found that the quiz was stressing the importance of not just focusing on our physical health but also on our mental well-being in order for us to live a longer and healthier life. I learned that managing my stress, eliminating fast food, and scheduling annual health check ups is the key to staying on track and living a longer, better life. The quiz also provided me with feedback on how to increase my lifespan, such as how to cope with stress, and selecting better food options. It also suggested ways to adjust some of my behaviors, which was quite helpful.

# 6: My Ideal Life Stage

Choosing the ideal stage from our textbook (LifeSpan Development) was hard and tricky for me, and the reason why I say this is because each stage of life is unique and has its ups and downs. The one I choose is Adolescence because it is right in middle of the stage of life. This is the stage where, yes, you might be having a hard time figuring yourself out, going through changes, personal growth but the best thing about this stage is the responsibilities you have are way less compared to an adult. You don’t have to worry about the future yet, work, or take care of finances. When I was a teen, all you had to really do was go to school and study for a couple of hours and the rest of the day was you wasting your time hanging out with friends, playing video games, or just having fun. For example, during Covid times, it states on Chapter 9, Section 9.2 how teens were less stressed compared to adults “Why might this once-in-a-century human threat produce better mental health? One reason is that because they were going to school online, teenagers reported getting much more sleep. Being confined to the house also offered the luxury of more family time. Parents and children were talking more; they were eating dinner together.” While adults on the other hand, were stressing out due to unemployment, struggling with their careers, and finding it diffcult to afford the most basic necessities because of the drastic changes it brought to the economy. Every time I bump into friends from high school, they always mention how fun high school was and wishing they could turn back to the times where we didn’t have to worry about so many things, like we do now in our early adulthood.

Taking this course was honestly ranked as one of my favorites. I really enjoyed how creative and fun the discussion boards were, and how they had us thinking outside the box. It made learning the material in this course fun and enjoyable, not boring. Another thing I liked was the amount of resources (videos, PowerPoint, etc.) we were provided with on Moodle. Also the weekly updates were very helpful and helped me stay on track. It was kind of hard to think of something in this course that I disliked, but for the sake of this assignment, lol, I would have to say some of the test questions in our exams. They would frustrate me and make me curious about what I got wrong since I couldn’t go back and check my answers. Maybe that's one thing that could change.
