If you're struggling with some of the language in Butler's text, or getting lost in it, here is an excellent (/hilarious, imo) Socratic dialogue-style explanation of some of their key terms and ideas that we'll be thinking about, authored by Dr. Hannah McCann, a brilliant gender studies specialist based at the University of Melbourne. Hopefully it might help with untangling some of the key threads of argument in Butler's text. Sincerest apologies to all dog people.

Hi all – please feel free to post your thoughts & observations, questions, anecdotes, expressions of enjoyment or critique, or passages from the reading that you'd like to discuss or unpack in seminar this week. This is also a great space to share ideas for media, cultural, artistic and literary examples that you see as being in conversation with queer theory more generally.

Remember that this is your space to begin to shape the content to allow discussions for specific areas that you're interested in. I'll review it all before Friday to see what we're able to incorporate.

Happy reading, happy writing!
