         <description><![CDATA[<div>- The carnival is celebrated through the entire month of February throughout the whole countries filled with parades each week<br><br>- The wearing of masks symbolize spiritual, supernatural and unknown spirit world entities<br><br>- People in ancient times of this tradition used masks to either depict, get the attention of, or to hide themselves from a higher, or more spiritual being<br><br>- Since many African people have been there since their arrival in earlier history, the people of the Dominican Republic and African people act as slaves and their Spanish captors as they act to abuse the slaves.  It is a weird tradition, but that is what they do.<br><br>- the Carnival has been celebrated in Santo Domingo since the mid 1500's</div>]]></description>
