In the first year of band we played the flute, the trombone, the trumpet, and the clarinet. By the end of the year we chose the instrument we were going to continue with. I chose to play the flute and my love for the instrument has only grown over the years. Music is its own language so I guess I also learned a whole new language. Thanks to band, I've made some of my closest friends. I always know I can count on someone in that class. Our current band teacher is my middle school band teacher so I feel very comfortable discussing my personal life and telling him about any problems I'm having. 

How does this relate to the theme? 

This relates to the theme because it shows that band has not only affected my academic life but my personal life as well. During school, when I shower, when I clean, when I'm getting ready for school, and basically any other minute that I'm awake. When I need energy to do a task I usually listen to happy and jumpy music because it can put me in a good mood. When I'm trying to focus on an assignment I'll listen to slower music or even classical music.

This relates to the theme because it's an example of how music affects my mood throughout the day. With my parents, I usually listen to bachatas or Spanish rock. With my friends though, I usually listen to Kpop, rock, indie, and a variety of other genres. I actually met one of my best friends because of her music taste.
