During the labor movement these people were the individuals in industrial or manufacturing jobs. These people earned wages for their work hence the name "working class". These workers could be skilled or unskilled but were treated poorly no matter the situation. This was all during the Industrial Revolution. The reason these individuals fought during the labor movement is because they wanted to improve their situation. Their working conditions were awful as well as their pay, so these workers came together to advocate for themselves.

The Knights Of Labor

The Knights of labor was a labor organization founded in 1969. This was a union anyone could join no matter the race, gender, or skill level. This group advocate for the 8-hour work day. They also advocated for the abolition of child labor, which eventually happend. They grew and achieved, but after 1886 their influence declined due to many different factors. The New Consumer Culture

Along with this labor movement came a new way to consumer culture. With the working class being produces the culture change for them because they were also consumer at the same time. For everyone around the working class the consumerism rose. Because of the working class there are now goods being passed produced in these factories. With these goods being produced there is now a higher demand for these goods, kind of like a desire. "What does this mean for the unions?" you may ask. Well, these unions used these consumerism ideals to their advantage. They organized things like boycotts of these items lowering the demands. But even through this works still seemed to struggle for good conditions.

There were many causes to this financial crisis in the states. The big two most likely the demonetization of silver, and the overexspanion of the railroads. This crisis triggered the first great depression. With this crisis came wages cuts for the working class. This made tensions even higher with unions and increased their activity. This caused the way workers were treated to be put on high alert, it exposed the conditions they work with and in the end their hopes to emerge stronger.

This is about national labor union founded by Samuel Gompers. This was a large force in this movement for the working class. This like every other union hoped to improve wages, working hours, and conditions. Without this group the Working class would not be where it is today.
