The identity a woman means many facets and roles to play. Mine are daughter, sister, aunt, friend, human, wife and mother. As a woman I create. I create life. I create a loving home environment. I create an atmosphere of love and acceptance around me. I create equality and teach my 3 sons about it. And I create a better world for future women when I stand as a feminist. I love being a woman and all that it means.

Medical wives and army wives are of the same breed. We are often alone, raising our families, taking care of everything without help. Being a medical wife has made me strong and independent and taught me I can truly do anything- change a tire, pay the bills, move furniture alone, etc. Medical wives always seem to find each other and have each other's backs when our husbands are nowhere to be found unlike any other friend group (besides military wives) I've ever seen. I love being a medical wife and the lasting friendships that helped create who I am.

Southern Girl

Growing up in Virginia, I was surrounded by American history, cultural diversity, massive trees, rolling hills, and a slower pace of life. I didn't realize how amazing it was to live by such rich history until I moved away and realized people don't know about the things that surrounded me daily. Hamilton was in my life much longer than the play has been around, and civil war bullets and cannons were frequently found in the woods surrounding my home. I would ride horses around the countryside and not fully appreciate the beauty that surrounded me until I got perspective later. I love appreciating our country's past, its beauty and simple life, and I'm proud to be a Southern girl!

My oldest son is about to be 10, which puts me at a decade of being a mother. I'm still learning through each new phase, or repeating ones I've already been through with my younger children. I cringe thinking about the toddler years I have ahead with my youngest, and find myself loving my older boys even more as they enter really fun new phases. I have learned about unconditional love, patience, forgiveness and being forgiven, and that playing is such an important part of life. My kids inspire me to stay healthy and fit so I can keep up with them. Having all boys has taught me that I have the responsibility of raising good men to respect strong women in the future.

In the last 4 years my views on religion and a higher being have taken a drastic turn. Where I once thought I had all the answers, I quickly realized I don't, and I think it's more beautiful that way. It has changed my life for the better, and I am happier knowing that I can have a direct path to spiritual knowledge as it pertains to me. I have learned to be more open and loving to those of any belief system, and can respect all beliefs as long as people can be kind and loving and moral.
