- Symptoms: The most common symptoms of conjunctivitis are: redness in one or both eyes, itching, gritty feeling, discharge that can form crusts on the eyelashes in the morning, tearing and sensitivity to light  .

- Diagnosis: The diagnosis of conjunctivitis is based on the medical history, symptoms and eye examination. In some cases, a sample of the fluid from the eye can be taken for laboratory analysis and determine the type of causative agent .

- Treatment: The treatment of conjunctivitis depends on the cause. Usually, it focuses on relieving symptoms with artificial tears, cleaning the eyelids, cold or warm compresses and avoiding contact with the eyes . If conjunctivitis is viral, antibiotics are not used, as they are not effective against viruses. You have to wait for the virus to run its course, which usually lasts between 2 and 3 weeks . If conjunctivitis is bacterial, antibiotic drops or ointments are used to eliminate the infection. They should be used for 7 to 10 days and should not be shared with anyone  . If conjunctivitis is allergic, antiallergic drops are used to control allergic reactions and inflammation. You should also avoid contact with allergens that cause allergy .
