They begin their training at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, opened in 1961.
They spend a lot of time in class learning skills they need, training with other people they will work with once in space. 
Each astronaut has their own job, they work as a team.

EMU: extravehicular mobility unit that astronauts wear outside of the spaceship. The suits contain a microphone and headphone for communication and oxygen and water. 
MMU: manned maneuvering unit. A special backpack that is worn with the EMU suits.

Some foods are made by adding water and some are similar to the food we eat on Earth.

Many astronauts play games with their crewmates, watch movies,  and watch sunsets and sunrises from space.

Staying healthy and active is hugely important for astronauts because gravity is not working their muscles the same as it does on Earth. They can become weak.
