He didn't want to intervene because he is moralistic.
P- the purpose is to let the country know what action Wilson wants to take which is to be neutral
Y- This is important because the US was indirectly suffering from the war in Europe and people wanted to know what would be done
b) Wilson's perspective is that we should not get involved in the war and stay neutral to both sides because of his morals. He is speaking for the government by saying he doesn't want the country to get involved.
P- The purpose of this is to let the American people know that he wants the US to stay neutral, and so that means they have to have neutral opinions and not take sides.
Y- Significant because the war was a big deal and so Wilson's address stating that he wanted to stay neutral would have probably been met with nationwide support because the Americans didn't want to go to war.
b). His perspective is from a presidential standpoint. He calls those who stay neutral Americans. It needed to be put to an end and Wilson's speech questioned the peoples' urge to choose sides instead of remain neutral and unify.
b) Wilson's point of view on this comes from a neutral standpoint. He classifies "Americans" as those who have a love for their country and remain loyal to the government. This is what should unify us as citizens of America not race, gender, or any other physical factor. American would naturally have sympathy towards the war effort because it is their families and people who are drafted to fight in it.
