Reevelers in New York have been celebrating New Years in Times Square since 1904. But 1907 was the year that the iconic ball drop was built by a young immigrant Jacob Starr, who went later on to start his own company which was responsible for dropping the ball in most of the 20th century. Since then there has been eight different versions of the beautiful ball drop the most recent in 2007 celebrating their 100 year anniversary.

In more modern times the New York ball drop is made out of 2,688 triangular crystals.

Auid Land Syne is a traditonal scottish song. The translation in English is ''Old long since" Robert Burns first wrote the poem in 1788. although it was not well known until after his death in 1796 as it was published in print by James Johnson. Then in 1782 it was first composed but it wasn't for almost another decade in 1799 that it was composed in the iconic and famillar song it is today, Auid Land Syne didn't become an American traditonal song until 1929 when famous canadian band lead Guy Lombardo sang it on popular radio stations
