Lastly for the general Mise-en-scene conventions that are in a Dance pop genre music video the setting. Within most of these videos they are normally set in exotic countries to represent the young student traveling like in Jonas Blues Perfect strangers. This is clearly effective but due to our location of the UK we would have to try and develop these conventions so trying to use locations that may seem perfect for a holiday or tourist areas. Or even turn it around into the typical English dates such as Cafe's, traveling to train stations in stead of airports and parks.

Furthermore the stereotypically use of props in a Dance Pop video there is not usually a prop used unless it has specific meaning. An example of this is The Chainsmokers new video featuring Halsey; closer where they include the features of a Land Rover for illustration in the song as well as pictures of the couple together to emphasize their relationship as well as creating more of a narrative. Therefore taking those similar conventions we could include key props that reflect their bond these could include pictures and presents that where given to each other. Such as Photos and jewellery which is normally bought to signify love and being together.

In relation to the actors as there is a male and a female normally within the Dance Pop genre videos there usually means that there will be no need for make-up on the male due to the conventions including the fact that the male is more natural. The only time a male in these videos would need make-up is if there is an accident so it would be use of effect to make a cut or something realistic. Therefore for our music video we think that there will be no need to have make-up for the male however for the female we would need make-up for her. This is due to the stereotypical choices for women is to have make-up but it is normally not too extreme but realistic for the average person. In which we will have the female actress wearing light natural looking make-up. Similar to the female in the Kungs; This Girl Video. although she is wearing very light make up ours may be a little bit more to show the average teen in England.

Moreover stereotypically for this genre the actors within their music videos are normally male and female actors that show off their relationship. This is due to most Dance Pop songs being based around a relationship between them either happy or sad therefore for our song we want to reflect this convention through having a male and female as a couple to denote the lyrics behind the song within the Mise-en-scene. an example of this is Jonas Blues; Perfect Strangers video as the whole video is based around the couple.

In addition other conventions that are needed to be considered is the lighting; for our videos we are mailing inspired by music videos by Kungs and Jonas Blue who have high key lighting, this is effective for the genre as it will display the narrative but it will also be important to add as it is stereotypically used within this genre. Four our music video we would use high key lighting to follow the typical conventions as well as having a lower key lighting when the images in the video want to reflect the sad elements.

In which these music videos costume does not faze the younger generation of females as the song’s lyrics is seen to be catchy as well as have influence them individually such as experiencing similar themes. However as our artist is not looking to be subjective to the male gaze so for our costume we will be looking to use the popular and up to date fashion trends so that it can target the young females specifically so that they would see the costume and say that they like/want it rather than in most videos they refer to the outrageous style and ask what do they think they are wearing. this is think would be similar to the clothing choices in Matoma & Becky Hill - False Alarm as they are seen to the average young couple wearing the everyday clothing except for when they are on dates they are dressed up a bit more in smart tops and dresses.

Within a music promo there are different conventions of Mise-en-scene that are expected from a music video of the Dance Pop genre. For the Mise-en-scene it would include the costume, lighting, actors, make-up and props. There are typical conventions and stereotypes that are seen in this genres music videos. For the costume stereotypically the women in the music video are seem to be wearing little clothing and being subjective to the male gaze due to normally wearing short shorts or bikinis which can be seen in videos of Fifth Harmony and Ariana Grande’s. This style of costume for a music video is seen to be more for the male’s due to the song style not particularly targeting their demographic.
