Retirement is a major milestone that marks the end of one chapter and the start of another. Leaving the workplace behind can be bittersweet mixed with feelings of excitement and trepidation. 
Soon, you'll be trading long hours  and never-ending days at the office for traveling, resting or playing with your grandkids. 
I hope your retirement gives you the chance to do whatever it is that you always wanted to do but didn't get to. It has been a huge blessing to work with you and watch you moved barriers and conquer Goliaths. 
Thank you for providing a space that allows me to be my authentic self, your mentorship and believing in me, when I didn't believe in myself.

She talked about how she never would have made it through math and finished her degree without the countless hours you spent with her. I think about that, and then I think that she was just one of the thousands and thousands of students whose lives you changed.
Every encounter with you, even if we were both grumpy, was joyful. And you ran the most fun hiring committees ever.
