1- I prefer using both listening activities in coursebook and authentic listening materials. Because both listening materials are positive and negative effects on students. Listening acts in coursebook are mostly about the target lexis and vocabularies. The language in these kind of activities is apparently much clearer than the authentic listening acts. But the level of students who are in our classroom might not be appropriate for the listening acts in coursebook. In this situation we can benefit from the authentic listening materials. We can provide to engage the students to the text. The difficult part of this material is to take too much time and hard work. But with the online websites can be easier for us.

2- Actually I was thinking that the acts we are doing in classroom are not appropriate for my students. Because my students in this year have not any language skills. They don’t even spell English alphabet. But after I take today’s session, I believe that I can adapt the ideas about developing more listening skills to my students. I can do that in many ways. For example I can do drawing a picture of story activity with my students by simplifying it. First of all, I give them a lof of input related to vocabulary( for instance topic is physical appearance) Then I say ‘ my best friend has …. ‘ And they try to draw it. I believe that they have fun and intensify the topic with this activity.

I can say the differentation task has given me another perspective to plan my tasks. I can adapt tasks to my students .

1- My students want to speak English but they are afraid of making mistakes. That’s why they’ve got low confidence to use target language.

2- One of the biggest problem with my students is that they are incapable of speaking skill. I am aware that there are many reasons for it. But if they gain self-confidence and believe themselves to achieve this, they can easily speak the language.

Today, lots of craft knowledge come to my mind thanks to our trainers and my colleagues. There was an amazing example which our trainers showed us. I mean to say ‘KISS’( keep instructions short and simple). Sometimes we forget our students don’t know that language. And we only go with the stream while we are giving instructions. We should make quite simple sentences, which is notable for my students, and use gestures. If we think about an another effective solution for speaking, it can be digitalization. Flipgrid, which I haven’t used before, has so many advantages such as self-evaluating, motivation and peer learning. But if the students are shy like mine; animoto, voki, chatter pix, clarisketch are excellent apps. Further, let’s suppose that we don’t have any chance to get these apps, then we can use puppets and masks for speaking activity. In this way, they will be self-confident people. Yeah, ‘there is always a way.’ I believe it more day by day.

I think my colleagues would find useful a warm up activity. This is called ‘gimme5’. Our trainers split us into two equal sized group to form onion rings. Then trainers decide on a topic and names 5 things about that topic. They starts the activity saying (for example)‘give me 5 things you eat on breakfast’. We can provide students to remind the words which we teach them in the previous lessons. So it can be an activating schemata activity at the beginning of the lesson. Students will love it and they can start with a great motivation to the lesson. Because they will remember the words working to understand the reading text. If we mention about an another thing finding useful, it definitely will be digitalization. Because we have got a treasure with online websites ( busy teacher/ my english pages/ learn english teens/ national geography learning). My colleagues make a good thing of the online websites by finding suitable tasks for their students.

I think snack activities for writing are really good for my students. By this activity, students will get used to writing skill. There is no much work load. They don’t pull away from writing. Especially; if we select a topic which they are interested in, they get more motivated. Today, we have made an example of it. The question in the activity was ‘ choose a wild animal and why?’ Even I have so much fun and learn from sharing information of my colleagues , I can’t imagine my students.

1- For my classroom in my area, one of the most effective vocabulary teaching methods is to use visual and realia with a context. If they encounter the words, which they’ve learned, in many times, they can remember the words better. So, we should choose target words among the most frequently encountered ones. Games are supportive material for that. Also, personalisation and categorizing words are helpful to recall the words later. Sure, the words move to their long-term memory. That’s what we ask.

2- I would say to discuss ideas about grammar teaching methods. I mean explicit and impicit grammar. I consider implicit grammar is more educatory. Since students start to think about text while the teacher is just guiding. They try to reason and get an opinion. I suppose the most important stage is that. But there is no best method. Every method has their own effective results. It depends on situations like students, time etc. In a PDC meeting, I would want to share each methods that we have found useful and suitable for our students by adapting them.

I literally get efficiency from PDC meetings in terms of differentiating and planning the tasks. Not only do we try to find solutions to our problems about teaching the language but also we have practiced a lot. To be honest, I didn’t expect this kind of training.Above my expectations! It’s very helpful and broads my horizon. When I go back to my school, I am going to work on my tasks and share my experiences with my colleagues in PDC. One another point which I want to mention about is that training provides me to get many recourses from online websites to digitalization. In this manner, we can make our students to use the internet properly.
