The attitudes and values in World War 1 are different to those in the Vietnam War. All the world wars are same in one way or another but are also different based on the attitudes and values towards each of the wars. I will be talking about the attitudes and values in World War 1, attitudes and values in the Vietnam War, comparing these attitudes, explaining how they have changed and comparing these to 2018.

The Vietnam War is also know as the "Second Indochina War". The Vietnam War was a long, costly and involved a lot of conflict. Men during this war seemed to be more reluctant to fight. The overall impact of the war conflict, however, managed to influence lives of American next generations. The conflict was intensified by the ongoing cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. Protest was big during the Vietnam War. Anti-war marches and other protest attracted a widening base of support over the years of the war. In the Vietnam War Women had more to do with the actual war itself. Approximately 11,000 military women were stationed in Vietnam during the conflict. They had different options for jobs, such as, physicians, air traffic controllers, intelligence officers, clerks, U.S. Navy, Air Force, Marines and the Army Medical Specialist Corps. Women had more to do with this war.

World War 1 was different to the Vietnam War. In World War, men were determined to fight for their country and the overall attitude towards the war was positive. The first World War didn't seem to have too much conflict and had high support all throughout. This seemed to be the positive side of things, for this particular event, even though it was still a war. In the Vietnam War, however, men tended to have become more reluctant to fight for their country knowing what went on in the first World War. Even though the Vietnam War still had support through out it was long and had a lot of conflict. Which appeared to be the downside for people. In WW1 women didn't have much to do with the war. They only did jobs outside of the war like being ticket collectors or being tram and bus conductors. Where as in the Vietnam War women were allowed and were given more important jobs that were directly related to the war like working in the air force and marines or being an army medical specialist.

How have the Attitudes and Values changed?

Attitudes and Values have changed through both of the wars. In WW1 people were happy to participate in the war, where as when in got to the Vietnam war people were more reluctant to take part as they knew what it was like. In WW1 there was hardly any conflict compared to the Vietnam War where there was quite a bit. In WW1 women had very little to do with the actual war itself, however as they got to the Vietnam War women had more important things to do with the war and more important jobs, unlike they did in the first World War. One thing both Wars did have in common was they both had a high support system all throughout.

In this day and time almost all attitudes and values towards war, you will find are negative. It is very common for people not to want to enlist in the war and very uncommon for people to actually want to enlist. Attitudes have also changed in terms of how they feel about women in the war, certain boundaries they cross and invasion of other countries. As they were in the Vietnam War women have more to do with war itself and not just on the side being slaves. War doesn't only affect the people participating in it, it affects the people in the surroundings.

Conclusion

Overall i think we have come to the conclusion that the attitudes and values towards war are negative. even though it seemed to be good to start off with, as people got to know and see what happened in war people became reluctant to go, even thought they had no choice. We have noticed there had been a change in the amount of conflict over the two wars, with WW1 having the least amount of conflict and also the least amount of women participation. Where as in the Vietnam War women were and active part of the war. We have also come to realise that all wars had a high support system all throughout, but that still didn't seem to change the fact that people did not want to be part of the war.

Attitudes and Values in World War 1

World War 1 is also known as the "Great War". The general attitude towards World War 1 was positive. Men in the war were eager and determined to show their bravery and devotion to their country. During World War 1, large numbers of women were recruited into jobs vacated by men who had gone to fight in the war. This led to women working in areas of work that were formerly reserved for men, for example as railway guards and ticket collectors, buses and tram conductors, postal workers, police and firefighters. Although women did not physically have anything to do with the actual war, they still took some part in the process of the war. Propaganda was used by government to influence the attitudes and public opinion of the British people. Support remained high throughout the war and public opinion had to stay positive following the appalling casualties of the young soldiers as the war progressed.
