One of our main coaching points speaks to letting children start something and following their lead. Child-directed exploration is often challenging for classroom teachers, and I see them leading children at times when it would really be beneficial to observe and follow.

I have been thinking a lot about purposeful play and choice in the context of WT lessons. As a general teaching practice, I believe that we are able to cultivate play with teachers, offering the opportunity to deepen their play to support children play.

Child to Child Learning

In thinking about the suggestion to pair children, Laura offered considering this as a means to facilitate child to child learning. This feels like a concrete learning method that could easily be supported in the Wolf Trap model. Creating space for children to offer their thoughts and ideas and then encouraging student response is meaningful for their social and emotional development.

One of my favorite things is to share with teachers experiences where the children can input details that make the song/action/story change. Those can be used any time and can always look and feel different.
