I am emailing and calling my US Senators and Congressman about the issues around public education. I also am posting on Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Bluesky about supporting public education and opposing the closing of the US Dept of Ed. Beginning Locally

I have made a commitment to join our local chapter of Public Schools Strong. This involves attending school board meetings and advocating locally.

Daily (or almost) I am emailing and calling legislators and letting them know that they need to support our public schools and ALL students. Michelle Howell

Research and share with others even students, this is their future and their children’s and relatives children. Email my representatives and learning more about laws and how they are impacting us now and potentially later.

I am already emailing, texting, faxing, and sending snail mail. My US Rep has been trying to call me all day and I didn't answer because I was driving and distracted, but I commit to calling him back and/or answering the next time he calls no matter what I am doing. I will continue doing all of the things I am already doing, and I commit to reevaluating whether I can make Educators Unfiltered happen now.

As a former New York City school teacher, and as a writer for children, and as an American citizen, and as a human being, I’m very concerned about this planned takedown of public education. I’m thankful to my dear friend.Kathleen Mcclaskey, who has helped me to become aware of the impact of project 2025. I commit to attending the Townhall meetings, contacting my legislators to let them know how I feel and how they need to vote, and to use my platform as a Kidlit author and blogger to encourage, inspire, and empower students to make their voices heard… And to support current teachers, in whatever way I can.

Making a Difference in Public Education: My Perspective

Progress in public education, for me, is about equity, innovation, and empowerment. It’s about classrooms that nurture critical thinking, creativity, and confidence, rather than just compliance. It’s about teachers as facilitators of inquiry, not just deliverers of content. It’s about students owning their learning journeys, developing real-world skills, and seeing education as a tool for transformation.

I’ve spent years exploring how cooperative learning enhances student engagement and speaking skills, particularly in ESL classrooms. I’ve seen firsthand how peer collaboration breaks barriers, builds confidence, and fosters inclusive, student-centered learning environments.

To help make this vision a reality, I:

Champion AI and innovative pedagogy—helping educators leverage smart tools for lesson planning, personalization, and efficiency.
Write and speak on global platforms—sharing research-based insights on education reform, leadership, and classroom strategies.
Develop the TNLGE Framework—Transformative Narrative Leadership in Global Education—to use storytelling as a force for educational change.

Train educators worldwide—bridging the gap between theory and practice by equipping teachers with scalable, actionable strategies.

Public education should not just prepare students for tests, but for life. And I believe that with the right tools, leadership, and collective effort, we can build an educational landscape that is empowering, future-ready, and deeply human.

By the end of this year, I plan on providing Professional Development training to 10000+ educators around the world and setup a school or a cluster of 5/6 schools for girl in rural Punjab in Pakistan.

What I can do

Remain informed and inform others. Especially parents who can often exert pressure that teachers cannot or don't feel safe doing. Share what I know in all my circles of influence including family.

Also, proactively determine what pro-public education language would sound like.
