Duncan was the son of Crinan, as well the Abbot of Dunkeld, and Bethroc daughter of Malcom the second. Duncan was the first of the House of Dunkeld. King Duncan wasn’t a good leader compared to Malcom the second, because Duncan led a destructive campaign into Northumbria and was forced to leave ignominiously back to Scotland. Duncan’s cousin was Macbeth, was chief of the northern Scots, he as well had claim to the throne through his mother.
