Our school stands out with its academic, cultural, and sports achievements. We have received numerous national and international awards in Chess, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Karate, Swimming, Volleyball, Handball, Football, and Taekwondo, including Turkey Championships.

We also organize the TÜBİTAK 4006 Science Fair every year and take part in innovative projects such as “This Is My Work,” Erasmus+, and eTwinning.

Turkey Introduction Video (Tourism Week 2023)

I'm Kadriye Eser,an English teacher at Çankaya Şehit Mert Kaya Secondary School in Mersin,Türkiye.I'm very happy and excited to take part in this project.I'm looking forward to sharing,learning and exploring new ideas together.I hope this experience will create great memories and meaningful outcomes for both my students and colleagues 🌿✨️

My journey with eTwinning began in 2024 with my first project. The experiences I gained during that time allowed me to observe closely the positive impact of international collaborations on both teachers and students.

This year, thanks to the encouragement of my dear colleague Pakize and her invitation to join the projects she founded, I had the opportunity to take part in two new eTwinning projects. Working in the same team with Pakize, who is an exceptionally professional and visionary teacher in project development and management, as well as with all of you, will be both a great pleasure and an inspiring experience for me.

Collaborating, creating together, and working with teachers from different countries will strengthen intercultural understanding, friendship, and solidarity, which are among the most powerful aspects of this project.

I wish all my project partners a productive, enjoyable, and inspiring project journey.

Our school was established on July 1, 1998, following the enactment of the 8-year compulsory primary education law, through the merger of Mersin Secondary School and Üç Ocak Primary School. The name Mersin Üç Ocak Primary School was formed by combining “Mersin” from Mersin Secondary School and “Üç Ocak” from Üç Ocak Primary School.

When located at its former site, our school consisted of four separate buildings:

• The first building was the former Mersin Secondary School building, located across from the Mağazalar Police Station. It was constructed of stone in 1905 by the Capuchin priests as church residences. After Mersin’s liberation from the French occupation in 1922, the building was donated to the state treasury by the church on the condition that it be used as a school. In 1923, it began serving as Cumhuriyet Primary School, and in 1928, after the school moved to the old building at the site of today’s Borsa Palace, it was reopened as Mersin Secondary School. When Mersin High School (now Tevfik Sırrı Gür High School) opened in 1945, the school relocated. From 1945 to 1966, the building served as a Technical School, and in 1966, after the Industrial Vocational High School moved to its new building, it was reopened under the name Mersin Secondary School for the second time. Since 1998, it has continued to serve as Mersin Üç Ocak Primary School.

• The second building was located next to the main building and was constructed around the same period.

• The third building was the former 5 Ocak Primary School, also built by the Capuchin priests. In 1923, it served as the Official Girls’ School; in 1934, it became the French Consulate; in 1941, it housed the Child Protection Agency; and in 1944, it was used as Yuva Primary School. In 1945, it was renamed 5 Ocak Primary School, and in 1974, in honor of Mersin’s liberation day, January 3, its name was changed to 3 Ocak Primary School.

• The fourth building was constructed in 1955 by the Red Crescent and the Society for the Protection of the Poor and Needy as a stone structure. It was used for many years by the Regional Forestry Directorate, later by the Agricultural Equipment Institution and the Veterinary Directorate. In 1972, it was leased to Mersin Secondary School and served as an annex until 1998.

Currently, our school continues to provide education in a single building located next to the former bus terminal.

Our school is known its academic ,sportive and cultural success .We have a lot of national and international awards in literature ,art ,football ,taekwandoo ,badminton and other sports .

We had Science ,Erasmus+ and E twinning projects and also we attend Tubitak 4006 Science Fair every year .

Inspired by the scent of the city's orange tree-lined streets, the Orange Blossom Carnival is held every April. Over 90,000 people attended the 2015 carnival parade, marking the highest attendance ever recorded for an open-air event in Adana.

Adana kebab, known locally simply as "kebab", is made from minced meat and is the city's most popular food choice.

It is one of the best schools in the city as it accepts students who are selected via a national exam.

Our school is one of the few schools which have a gym. Our students are involved in many sports and social activities like football, volleyball, tennis, theater, reading, school kermess, spring festival, sightseeing and many more.

In our school we put love and respect in the center of everthing. So both teachers and students spend their time in peace at scool and focus on success.

I'm glad to be in eTwinning community and always ready to collaborate with all. eTwinning for me  is a great way of modern communication, collaboration and cooperation, it makes my teaching life more interesting, unusual and unforgettable; my students think that projects are great as they can open their horizon, help them learn in a different way and get over classical learning.

The school integrates general academic courses (mathematics, science, Turkish language, foreign languages) with religion-culture classes and possibly Arabic or Qur’anic instruction.Our school has 600 students and 51 teachers.English and Arabic is taught in the high school; likely similar in the middle school.Students receive a blend of religious/moral education and rigorous academic training. Participation in international projects (eTwinning), science fairs, etc, indicates the school is not just traditional but oriented toward innovation.Strong teacher-to-student ratio (in the high school example), science and computer labs, and various amenities.
