This scene on page 18 shows our main character’s Eddie’s death.This scene found a way to be sad even though we are have only known Eddie for 18 pages. Eddie dies trying to save a little girl from a machine at the pier and his actual death is described really well. Also the tension creates pages before climaxes and it makes you wonder if he did the girl. I Choose this scene because it’s the most impactful scene in the first chapter of the book

Blue man tell Eddie he killed him

Even though this page is short it’s extremely impactful. We find out that Eddie is evolved in the Blueman’s death. It leaves the reader wanting more. I choose this scene because it gives the blueman a importance and it makes the reader wondering who this man is.

Old and mean he is deep down a good person, he is a kind a caring person and is will to give to people just like that 40 dollars he gave to Dominguez. I choose this scene because in my opinion it shows Eddie’s character the best.

Eddie’s true love

This page we meet Eddie’s true love Marguerite. They meet on the beach at the pier when Eddie was in his teens. The scene shows great imagery and paints the picture in your mind. I choose this scene because it introduces an important character to the story and its something to go back to later in the story.

The Captain's Death

THis page shows how the captain died, He cleared the path for Eddie and the car fulled with other soilders, As he got to the end of the path he stepped on a landmine killing him. This page is extremely powerful due to the fact he learned so much abouth him and is selfless actions. Which his selfless actions led to his death but the survival of his team. That truly shows who the captain was.

Eddie Gets Shot

In this scene Eddie attempts to save something in a burning barn but is saved when he gets shot and pulled out. The main reason why Eddie went inside was because he thought something innocent was in their burning to death. Eddie gets caught on fire but keeps trucking through the pain until he can't when he is shot. This page helps support Eddie and his selfless actions.

Micky’s Lesson

He says in war to shoot first and don't feel guilt. this scene shows how Mickey was a father figure to Eddie due to the fact Eddie's acual dad wanted him to be a girl. This page shows us the Captain's lesson to Eddie. His lesson is that sacrifice is needed. Eddie sacrificed his leg for his life when he ran into the barn, the captain had to shoot him to save him. Also the captain sacrificed his life for his comrads life. This also relates to Eddie sacrificed his life to attempt to save the little girl when he died.

This page is Eddie’s funeral which was lackluster. The only source of money they used was Eddie’s uncollected paycheck from the pier. Also no one besides people who worked at the pier attended. This shows how isolated Eddie was and his only “friends” were his co workers.

Eddie’s father’s death

On this page we truly find out how Eddie dad dies. We found out after jumping in the freezing ocean to save a drunk Mickey, Eddie’s father got extremely sick, After coming out of a coma in the middle of night Eddie’s father got himself to the window. Opening it exposed him to the chilly winds. The only thing the yelled for was for his family, his wife, Joe, and Eddie. But the cold weather got to him and killed him. This act of caring for his family proves that Eddie’s father was a good man.

Tala’s death

We find out that there was someone in that hut that burned down during the war. In the fire Tala was burnt to death. Eddie was right there was someone. Eddie broke down in tears. He felt weak and it damaged his soul.

The Bath

Tala gives Eddie a rock and asks him to give her a bath in the river, Eddie goes to wash her and sees all the burns and scars he caused. As Eddie washes her he realizes all theses burns are falling off. After he finishes washing her she looks who she was before the fire. This can symbolize the forgiveness Tala gives to Eddie.

Eddie’s Purpose

Tala explains to Eddie his purpose. His purpose was to protect kids at the pier by checking the rides. Eddie thought since he worked at a pier all his life he was a Failure. But this entire time Eddie’s purpose was to protect the kids and make up for killing Tala

The Blue man’s lesson

We find out that Nick, the young man’s whose keys cut the cable killing Eddie, is the great grandson of Ruby. This is proves the blue man’s point that we are all connected. Also, this is ironic because Eddie met Ruby and Ruby never told him that her great grandson is the reason he died.
