I know this because in the text it said that the store assistant asked Peter if there was "no school today" and Peter replied with "lunch break, got to hurry back." The store assistant knew something was up since Peter looked like a runaway, That leads to my next piece of evidence. The towns people also looked suspiciously at Peter because his hair was a tangled mess with leaves. His clothing was full of dirt marks. And Peters nose was red from sunburn. In all he looked like a unprepared mess!
