As the costume designer for Antigone, it is my goal to tie in the actors with the role they are playing seamlessly through costume. I would work alongside the director to decide which route they would be taking as far as interpretative or creative, because that would drastically change the costume design. If the director ultimately decides interpretative I would study the time period and try to reflect the way of dressing then into the costumes I pick. The production is being put on by a theatre club that has no direct funding therefore the budget will be small and may be challenging but of course there is a way to work things out.

The budget that was given to me in order to put these costumes together is 300 dollars. When working with the director who has a more interpretative vision for the play it is still important to completely understand their goals. The vision of the director for Antigone is interpretative. We will be following the same vibe and guidelines as the original play which means that I will need to find costume pieces that not only seem similar to the orginal play but outfits that would have been worn during the time period of Antigone. I think when looking at the budget Ismene costume would be the  easiest to create. I know that we could invest in some sort of cloth and sow it to fit the cast. For Haimon a lot of other productions have had just a simple piece of cloth over him. I have voted against that idea because I feel like it isn't the most appropriate for the targeted audience. They all have the same base and just add accessories that are able to distinguish the characters from each other.
