In my experience, I was most successful in classrooms that had materials and resources that I connected to. For example, in Gr. 5, our social studies teacher got us to create a family tree, tracing back to where we are from and bringing in an image of our family. She put our family images on maps showing where we are from, and we researched that region/country, etc. This is why I would want to ensure I have a classroom similar to this.

In my experience as a student, I found that I was the most comfortable in a classroom when there was space I could move around, such as a carpet, and calm corners. I also found it was so helpful when the teacher would allow students to move around and work in pairs.
