         <title>Interventions </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Definition: </p><p>Intervention in instruction can look different for specific students. Intervention is mainly a form of extra help or more specified help for a student. Intervention can also be used for students who are having social or behavioral challenges. </p><p>Demographic of Students:</p><p>Students who have a specific learning disability (SLD), or an intellectual or accessible to receiving intervention. As well as students who may be falling below grade level in core subjects. </p><p>Examples: </p><p>1. Alex is struggling with behavioral challenges in the classroom. When Alex gets frustrated for not understanding part of the lesson, he disrupts the class. Alex receives behavioral intervention twice a week to work towards better behavior. </p><p>2. Daniel has ADHD and is struggling with focusing on his in class assignments. Daniel has sessions of intervention to work towards his assignments that he is struggling to focus on. </p><p>3. Shaniyah is having challenges with her reading skills, she is starting to fall below grade level. This practice involves using data and statistics about the student that can help the educator identify where specifically the student needs intervention. </p>]]></description>

         <title>Differentiation </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Definition: </p><p>Differentiation is a type of teaching. Differentiation is teaching but using a variety of methods and strategies with students. This can be resourceful to students who are having trouble learning content in one specific way. </p><p>Demographic of Students:</p><p>Differentiation is pretty much for all students. Whether a student is a student with exceptionalities or not, differentiated instruction can be used for all students. Even if it means adjusting the lesson to a group of students preference on strategy. </p><p>Examples: </p><p>1. Abraham is struggling with understanding the curriculum by reading the instructions. The teacher provides an accommodation and differentiates the plan by providing an audiobook version. </p><p>2. Manny is works better in a small group setting. The teacher is working with the small group to help break up the plan into smaller chunks.</p><p>3. Melo works better when she is sharing what works best for her. So he teacher is creating an activity where the students teach other.          <title>Accommodations </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Definition: </p><p>Accommodations changes HOW the student receives the instruction. That can be through a change in how the student reads the instruction, or even specifying the instructions specifically for that student. </p><p>Demographic of Students:</p><p>Students who have a specific learning disability (SLD), or an intellectual disability are more likely to benefit from accommodations for the lesson. </p><p>Examples: </p><p>1. Kevin is struggling with staying on task in class. The teacher can create a task list for Kevin to help him and to remind him of his tasks that he has. </p><p>2. Shawn is hard of hearing and has a hard time understanding the instructions. The teacher creates a written sheet with all instructions and details for Shawn. </p><p>3. Melissa is an english language learner, she is intervention for english language learners.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Definition: </p><p>Adaptations in the classroom is for students who are struggling with specific details in assignments that can be changed. A teacher can help a student adapt to a certain part of the lesson by making sure there is an alternative form of a piece of the instruction. </p><p>Demographic of Students:</p><p>This can be for students with SLD or students who are falling below grade levels etc. </p><p>Examples: </p><p>1. Logan is struggling with talking about his research through writing. His teacher provides a way for him to give an oral report instead. </p><p>2. Noah is having trouble with reading the text for the assignment due to a vision exceptionality. His teacher provides him with a copy of the same content but in a larger font. </p><p>3. Melody is having trouble with writing her letters, her teacher wants to give her more practice in this specific area.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Definition: </p><p>Modifications change WHAT a student is learning. Instead of just changing how the student is going to receive the content, the content changes as well. </p><p>Demographic of Students:</p><p>Students with exceptionalities, specific learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, etc. </p><p>Examples: </p><p>1. Daniel has autism and has a hyper fixation in computers. Daniel's teacher is able to give him a digital version of the assignment. </p><p>2. Jack has ADD and has a very difficult time in the classroom with keeping focus. His teacher noticed that his attention span can only last 5 minutes. Jack's teacher modify's the assignment to have a part with movement involved. </p><p>3. Genaro suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury), when he was 7 years old. Ever since, Genaro has had problems with retaining knowledge.          <title>Specifically Designed Instruction (SDI)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Definition: </p><p>Specifically Designed Instruction is curriculum that is specifically designed for a student. That can be based through their IEP, their disability, and is specified through the IDEA. </p><p>Demographic of Students:</p><p>SDI is directed towards students who have an IEP or have a disability. </p><p>Examples: </p><p>1. Maria has cerebral Palsy and has challenges with fine motor skills. Maria's teacher creates specific lessons for Maria to work towards her motor skills. </p><p>2. Sam has a bipolar disorder and has trouble with controlling his emotions when he is frustrated. He receives intervention from a specialist and his teacher. Sam's teacher creates a lesson plan with a least restrictive environment and very clear instructions to decrease the chance of Sam getting frustrated. </p><p>3. Jake has APD (Auditory Processing Disorder), he struggles with focusing in loud environments. Jake's teacher creates activities that involve individual work which creates a quiet environment.
