  1. The quality of the coursework along with the learning process
  2. If students have met standards needed to hit learning objectives and requirements for progression/graduation
  3. How students have met their own academic goals and progression as learners
  4. A scrapbook of the students' accomplishments, school projects, and any other documentation they deem important or necessary 
A portfolio can be in many forms
  1. Notebook
  2. Online
  3. Digital portfolio
  4. E-portfolio

Portfolios give students an active role in how their “assessment” is evaluated
  1. Students are able to see their progress 
  2. Portfolios can provide structure for involving students in developing and understanding criteria for good efforts
