I was baptized on March 26, 2002. Later received my holy Eucharist and confirmation on April 14, 2013. These are very important dates in my life and I try to celebrate them like birthdays. Because after each of those sacraments, I grew closer to God and I consider that a milestone. I would consider myself a little religious. I try to attend Sunday mass as much as possible and live my life by the ten commandments.

French is the naive language spoken by more than 60% of Cameroon. The other ~35% speak English. My parents are from the french side. It is very important to them that my siblings and I are well spoken in this language because it plays a part in who we are (identity). Our language is part of our culture.

In Cameroon, women take this day to heart, a special loincloth is worn by almost all. They show up at official ceremonies organized for the occasion. The streets of big cities become places of feminine parades. All nightclubs are requisitioned since the afternoon by large companies so that women can celebrate with dignity.
Since I no longer live in Cameroon, I aunts back home, would send the made cloths to us here. That day, I always wear my loincloth to school. Or at home is there isn't school. The origin of this day dedicated to women and celebrating solidarity between them dates back to March 8, 1857.

My family and I have had to adjust to a new country and way of life. Due to this change, my family has struggled financially. We lived in a small apartment in which I’ve shared a room with four siblings for years. Those years for us were very rough. But despite all the difficulties we have faced, my parents were able to master a new language and go back to school to get a decent job so that there could be food placed on the dinner table. I would never be able to thank them enough. Plus, I am so proud of what they have been able to accomplish.
