Days are snowing, nights are snowing, snow on mornings does prevail! All the countryside is wearing beautiful this silver mail. And the sun all round and pale, shows but glimpses through the sky, Like some dream of youth that’s flashing through the years which pass us by.

All is white, the fields, the hillsides, all surrounding, far away Like white daydreams are the poplars lining up into the grey And quite deep into this wasteland, not a trail, not a stroke, Just the villages, now hidden under whitish foam of smoke

But at once the snowing ceases, clouds depart, the sunny glow Glitters now, caressing gently the white ocean made of snow. Look outside, for through the valleys a light sleigh is gliding swift While the joyful air is ringing, play-bells chiming in the drift

Snow falls on us from the night,

From a rainy, dark thought,

With the hum of the forest

And galloping, straight across the blue

The snow is falling on us

On this snow night, from afar, from the road

Like the wind from ancient Anatolia
