First, it may be helpful if you keep track, either by keeping a written or mental log, of your news consumption throughout the day. This will help make answering the questions a bit quicker and more efficient.

To complete the news journal, you will use the personalized padlet link that will be sent to you through Connect. You will use this same link each day you complete the news journal. 

If possible, please try and fill out the news journal around the same time each day.

When you are ready to fill out the news journal, click on the padlet link. It will take you to your personalized home page. On the bottom of the page (bottom right on a laptop, bottom center for a mobile device) you will see a circle with a “+” sign. You will use this to create your daily log.

When you click on the plus sign, a daily post will pop up. Please title each post based on the number day of the study (e.g., Day 1, Day 2, Day 3).

The post has 5 questions for you to answer (they will be the same each day). You can click on “ABC” below the question to respond. The more details you can provide us, the better. But we also do not expect you to include every possible detail, and we do not expect you to write a novel.

After you have completed your journal for the day, you can submit through Connect. Use the day of the study as the completion code (Monday = Day 1; Tuesday = Day 2: Wednesday = Day 3; Thursday = Day 4; Friday = Day 5; Saturday = Day 6; Sunday = Day 7).

You will be compensated $10 each day you submit. We will also provide a $2 bonus each day you provide detailed responses. If you complete the news journal all 7 days, we will provide you with a $15 bonus (applied when I approve Day 7 submissions).

Finally, we will contact you to set-up a follow-up interview ($20) a week or two after the presidential election.
