Neoliberalism is an economic and social ideology which promotes free markets, minimal government intervention, globalization and privatization. It advocates for the transferring of public sectors to private and believes that when one has personal stake in someone there is more success and prosperity economically in a society.

1. Welfare & social inclusion - relationship w/ civic solidarity

Civic solidarity is a shared sense of responsibility that we all have in society to support one another mutually. It is up to all of us to help those in need (through social welfare programs for example) as it expresses that collective responsibility. This mentality promotes social cohesion. It ensures that all members of society have what they need regardless of their economic situation, whether in their control or not.
The myth of the welfare queen is contradictory to this concept. It is a stereotypical/racially charged association; having kids too early or to get a welfare cheque. Targeted towards black women in U.S

Role of military

Neoliberalism encourages economic freedom and autonomy, which in some cases can lead to economic volatility and inequality, all of which impact social stability.
The government may use the military to maintain order in situations where economic reform can lead to social unrest.

Marxist view on Neoliberalism

Marx believed neoliberalism contributed to capitalist exploitation; as a means for the ruling class to hold and maintain their power (both politically and economically).

A marxist lens points to market-driven policies as a means to further intensify class contradictions which cause many social and political dilemma's.

Wholeheartedly criticizes capitalism o the basis that capitalism perpetuates oppression in many forms. It further points to the experiences of the LGBTQ+ community are tied up with other systems of oppression such as race, gender, economic status and class.
