I got to work with people from different courses, I expected SIP to be tough at the start because we're taking it virtually and I was worried it would be hard to work with others online. Overall, the SIP journey has been very meaningful and enriching. I wasn't very optimistic initially about having SPEAR modules online as the past communication modules all required us to have good communication with my teammates. The part that got me worried was not bonding well with my team and honestly it felt like that initially. But over time the weekly calls that we had got more interesting when we shared our ideas and views about certain things. We occasionally disagree about how we want to do things but as we get to know each other better, we try and explain our point of views and see who's opinion would be better for that scenario.
After hearing about my other friend's experience with SIP, i'm really fortunate and proud to say that I met an amazing group of people, they were all very cooperative and would always attend the weekly calls based on the agreed time. For my other SPEAR modules, i've met group members that wouldn't their share of the work or ignoring whatsapp messages when asked up to meet up.
Ms Audrey was also an awesome lecturer, i really appreciate her taking up the time to give us feedback on our weekly assignments. Although the sessions may be short, I still treasure those 30-40 mins call that we would have every week. I also liked how she would break down those complicated information on blackboard for us to understand. I was pretty apprehensive and hesistant at the start of the semester especially being amidst a pandemic but i learnt so much through this module. This module has broaden my view on various social issues faced by the community and allowed me to develop a deeper understanding on how i can bring about change in my own way. Cyberbullying has been a prevalent subject in Singapore and has definitely grown to be a more serious issue as we live in a digital age, i never thought i could make much of a difference but through the SIP module i was able to pick up skills through the various design thinking frameworks such as in depth research on our chosen issue, idea generation, prototype and persona creation, gathering user feedback and even learning to be more empathatic to the needs and struggles of others. I was able to better understand the needs of cyberbullying victims and subsequently, design a program alongside my group to meet their needs and help them through their recovery. While the process was tedious, when we received user feedback on how our program had the potential to help others and even is something they would use, it was very heartening to hear. I am encouraged to continue applying the lessons i have learnt in SIP in my life. Throughout the entire SPEAR journey, I have improved on the self- directedness life skill the most, this journey has exposed me to working with different groups of people and i learnt how we as youths are able to make a difference in our own ways. Especially because of the pandemic, i understood the importance of taking iniative and being driven in my work. While we were guided by our lecturers, much freedom was given for us to ideate and work together- this was something i thoroughly enjoyed :)

Each and every step has got me thinking and I learnt a lot from the project. Through the e-gallery walk and presentations of other groups, i saw that there was more problems in Singapore that had yet to be solved. All the groups had came out with interesting prototypes to overcome the problem which was interesting and fun to see. I have also learnt some design thinking skills and knowing all these social problems gave me an another outlook of life. It was an enriching journey that i will always remember.

Despite the current situation with the pandemic, I really appreciate that our lecturer, Ms Audrey, manages to make sure that we are always on the right track of the lessons, as I do often face difficulties in keeping up with online lessons. SIP has been really eye-opening for me, and it's a totally new experience. Even after taking CAT and NAT as modules, SIP stands out to me because it requires me to apply the things I had previously learned from CAT and NAT into a social innovation project that my group members and I slowly built up over the weeks. Personally, it was difficult at first to cope as we had to have weekly group meetings, which were very very important. Oftentimes, the group faced minor difficulties in coordinating a common time to meet, and thus we usually set our meeting times at night. While slightly tedious in the beginning, I gradually came to appreciate these meetings, as they are very crucial to keeping up with the group's plans and progress, and not to mention that the meetings can be quite fun sometimes. Furthermore, I am really grateful for the experience of being put into a group with students from other schools. This turned out to be quite surprising as I am not really the biggest fan of being put in unfamiliar situations, but as we grew to know each other slightly better, I found myself feeling more comfortable during meetings and I'm also really happy to see the group being able to joke and laugh together as we progressed through the weeks. Once again, I want to thank Ms Audrey for being such an amazing lecturer who always keeps our spirits high with her friendliness and care, and also for taking us through SIP so well. As we all came from different courses, I really loved the ideas that my different course mates provide as normally if were to have similar course mates like we did in CAT & NAT. Our ideas and thinking are pretty much the same and we are always on the same page. But as for SIP we were all very diverse I felt it was very insightful I felt in your discussion giving different ideas that we would not have discussed of in our with our course mates.
The like skill that i picked up in my SPEAR journey I felt was most prevalent the pitching and the prototyping. These two life skills has taught me the importance of using it in my future. In the case of pitching I feel that it is a good way in portraying your idea and in a short and simple manner than an essay or a speech to present. As for prototyping, I feel that this will work in many aspects in my life where if I were to have an business idea and want to present to I can make a prototype and ask around my peers to see how they will react to and provide constructive feedback. Once done i can evaluate my prototype and finalize it to perfect before showing off my finished product.

It gives plenty of room for students express their ideas freely while having a backbone of design tools and process to follow. It is important in cultivating innovation and creativity in students especially in this day and age where the rise of technology can deplete creativity capabilities. Furthermore, by working with students from other academic schools we had to learn to work with people who have different backgrounds and views come to a consensus to reach a common goal. Over time, we grew to be more comfortable with each other, despite not meeting face to face.

From the whole SIP experience I have learnt to be more empathetic towards societal issues as well as more open minded to watch different views in solving different situations. The nature of SIP is that it allows us to be the most hands-on as compared to the other SPEAR modules I have taken in the past and encourages us to dive deeper into creation. It was also very interesting to see how different groups come up with concepts and prototypes I would not have thought about as solutions for their user.

Though the content may be confusing and hard to digest at one glance at times, thanks to Ms Audrey‘s guidance and patience in helping us understand SIP‘s content better, we were able to grow from this experience. Thank you Ms Audrey for being so considerate towards us! It truly is a memorable experience which I would not forget in my SP journey. As I have grown to be more mentally, emotionally, and hopefully physically (ha ha) through this semester in taking this unique, tedious but rewarding module as I am more socially aware of the know-how’s of design thinking, putting it into action and satisfaction when our final solution is presented.

I also learnt that including the target users' participation in developing our prototype is a very crucial step as it will allow us to touch up on our prototype such that it really is able to help our target user.
1 life skill that I have learnt is how to pitch my idea effectively to the audience such that I can actually gain valuable feedbacks from them on how I can improve my final solution because innovation is all about creativity and relevance so having more valuable feedback will definitely be able to help me make our final solution even better. This pitching skills will be something that I used in future as I believed that in future, I will also have to pitch my idea to my target audience for a proposal approval.

Thinking back, the fact that we had one whole semester to carefully think about our problems, user’s needs, actual concept, and then implementing it out as a prototype was really a fruitful experience for me. Not to mention that there really was ample time and it was just perfect for us to come out with the best solutions! I enjoyed the whole module very much as I had many takeaways from all the different skills and templates provided to us throughout the project progress. The designing of the prototype and making it interactive stood out to me most as it was my first time actually implementing our concept and it was a cool experience I will never forget! The only pity for this module was that we could not see each other in class and did not have the face to face experience as a whole class. :(

Nevertheless, thank you Ms Audrey for patiently guiding us through this interesting module! Everyone did a good job :)

SIP allowed me to learn how to be more empathetic and think of things from other people’s point of view.

It was fun and nice to work with people from different courses and schools. It allowed me to see things from many different views as well. Through this experience, I also learnt to work well with other people and to listen to other people’s opinions.
