We can form a project team to identify the needs for addressing societal problems (NEED), propose solutions (IDEA), and establish a consortium (PARTNER) to work on these issues.

In this project we will integrate and strengthen existing open infrastructures, including the Samen Meten platform, rather than create a new one. Building on the architecture principles developed in the CitiObs project and in response to the needs of the citizen science practitioner community gathered by Citizen Science Nederland, we will connect them along the full data flow, from collection to visualisation:

- Interoperability: shared open standards and APIs so datasets from different sensors, projects and regions can be merged.

- Data quality and provenance: transparent quality control in which data is never deleted but flagged by quality level, with provenance showing who collected it and how.

- Access: login routes for citizens without institutional affiliation, avoiding dependence on commercial identity providers.

- Reuse: outputs accessible to experts and non-experts alike for decision-making.

All components will remain open source. We will develop a shared governance and funding model, guided by the Principles of Open Scholarly Infrastructure, so that services continue after project funding ends. A software management plan will secure long-term maintenance.

The aim of the project will be to integrate existing, separate open science infrastructures and makes them more sustainable and interoperable through open standards and persistent identifiers. It supports community-based environmental monitoring as an open science practice and aligns with national and European initiatives such as the RIECS project and the EOSC Citizen Science Node.
