When speaking of the great heights Ozzy says he will climb, one can take into context that he strives for his own greatness, or he is just stoned out of his mind. It seems, however, that Ozzy's disregard for other's opinions can parallel with Emerson's belief that "Society everywhere is a conspiracy against ones manhood"

A world-renowned artist, Vahn Gogh was never appreciated until after his death. It is believed that Vahn Gogh had many kinds of psychological problems. He would paint every single day for hours upon end, but was an outcast because he was considered insane. After his suicide, others were astonished to discover his countless masterpieces. Although it is sad, it seemed it took Vincent taking his own life in order to be understood

Emerson discusses the importance if self-reliance in the world. He starts his text by providing a pathetic appeal to the reader personally. He speaks of the unfairness of the world, and with this he transitions towards a more ethical argument. Emerson describes the obligation of each and every man to trust in his self, because of his reasons previously stated about individuality being looked down upon. Through this appeal to the readers self ethics, moral duty, and so on, Emerson then transitions once more to describe the logic in his argument: To become great. He then ends upon describing some of the greatest men of all time, and states "To be great is to be misunderstood"
