The first two sentences, "Mexico is sinking" and "California is on fire," show the places that have been mentioned in the poem, and sentence 8, "were to cross the border each month," represent time. I will be using auditory imagery and metaphor in my poem as techniques that can show time and places; this can be done by using metaphor, hinting ideas of places but without saying it out, and auditory imagery for the sound of places, for example, car beeping, people walking..etc.
