Everything is in utter chaos. The pretty necklace, the one I cherished, the one that gave me everything I wanted only to take it away in a blink. Gone. I look back, and I see it all like a scene played on loop. I’m torn between wanting to go back and wanting to stay here, unmoving. The normal, ordinary life I have now is nothing compared to the one I wanted and all I need is to be far away from the excruciating terror of the that night. At times, I can’t help but wonder about the possibilities, like maybe if I haven’t borrowed the necklace, maybe if I haven’t gone to the ball, maybe if I told my friend the truth, things would’ve turned out differently. All these question taunting me, restless. But what could’ve I done when I was bound to that life and I wanted more.

It takes this turn of events to help Madame Loisel learn to be content with what she has in life. Finally, after ten long years of working, scrubbing floors, Madame Loisel finds peace and contentment. If only she had been content in the beginning, she would have never borrowed the necklace. She would have never lost the necklace. The irony of it all is that Madame did not see how beautiful she was naturally. Now, with her natural beauty fading due to hard work, Madame Loisel is content. This twist of events makes the story interesting. In the end, madame Loisel is a better person than she was when she wore the fake necklace. She would have felt devastated, all those 10 years disappear like ashes. Not only would she be angry at her friend but she would feel ashamed of herself too.
