Which of the Ten Ethical Computing Guidelines do you think students violate most often?

I believe students often violate the 1st commandment which is thou shalt not use a computer to harm other people. Many people feel empowered behind a screen. They think they can say what they want and nothing can happen to them. They do not realize they can get into serious trouble and actually really harm a person.

Like i said, many people think it is much easier to do things behind a screen and get away with it. If it were to be done in person then they would feel a different way about it. They would not want to steal software in person. They would not try to hack if the person knew about it. Most would not try to harm someone when they are face to face.

What do you think could be done to reduce or eliminate such unethical behavior?

I believe that the only way to stop these unethical behavior is to have people monitor these things. One thing that is hard to control is the harming of others. People can do it through many ways. The best thing to do for that is to always have a talk about cyber bullying and how it is a serious offense. It can get some students scared and know they can get in to serious trouble. For some other commandments we can try to monitor all these illegal sites so they can shut down all these sites that let people download software and movies.
