         <title>Step 6, Placing The Capstone On Top Of The Pyramid.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Description</strong></p><p>The Egyptians used levers to lift the capstone to a height of 6.1 metres, then 4 or 5 men were able to use levers on stones less than 1 ton to flip them over and transport them by rolling, the larger stones had to be towed. They would use ramps to transport the stone to the top of the pyramid</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Tools And Recourses</strong></p><p>you would need ramps, levers and stones in order to lift the capstone</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Challenges</strong></p><p>2 major challenges would be bringing the capstone up to the top of the pyramid because of it's significant height and substantial weight witch adds to the difficulty.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Interesting fact</strong></p><p>The term capstone comes from the final decorative "cap-stone" used to complete a building or monument, and they transported the capstone up a 147 metre tall pyramid. </p>]]></description>

         <title>Step 1: Site Selection and Planning</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Description:</strong> The placement of this pyramid was extremely precise due to the importance of its contents and purpose. Egyptians built the pyramids on the west side of the Nile because it was where the sunset and the place where the dead were thought to enter the underworld. In the third millennium BC, there were no stars placed at the north pole. Instead, all the stars in the north sky rotated around an imaginary point marking the north pole. The Egyptians watched a single star circle at this imaginary point and aligned the pyramid with the points's center. Another reason why the pyramids were built to in the north, was that Egyptians believed that pharaohs became stars when they died.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Tools</strong>: Some of the necessary tools included copper items such as chisels, drills, and saws, which might have been used to cut the relatively soft stone. You would also need stuff like around 5.5 million tonnes of limestone and the amount of people well we aren’t exactly sure but Herodotus, the Greek historian, wrote that&nbsp;100,000 workers&nbsp;built the pyramids and modern Egyptologists come up with a figure more like 20,000 workers.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Challenges: </strong>One of the main challenges faced during the placement of the pyramid was the precise angling and construction in alignment with the compass, ensuring that it faced the North Pole.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Facts:</strong></p><ul><li><p>The Three Giza Pyramids Are Aligned.</p></li><li><p>The Pyramid Texts Are the Oldest Known Religious Texts in the World.</p></li><li><p>The Pyramids Were Actually White.</p></li></ul><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <title> Step 8 - Decorating the Khufu pyramid</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Description:</strong> Egyptions back then were all loyal to the great pharoah , the people that finished the construction of the pyramid by decoratig the inside of the pyramid were all brave citizens that were willing to sacrifice there life for the pharoahs. They brought the artifacts and the tombs of Khufu's family into the pyramid of Giza. They painted and hang drawings of Egyption hieroglyphics and their gods, they will also put the tombs of Khufu and his family into the corresponding chamber. In all after they finish the final works they will stay in the pyramid of Giza forever. </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Tools:</strong> All they needed was the tombs and artifacts the pharaoh would want to bring to the after life.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Challenge:</strong> This was the main challenge, after the people entered the pyramid, they could'nt come out, so they sacrificed for their belief, the great khufu pharoah.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Fact:</strong> One fun fact is that when scientists discovered the pyramid no artifacts nor tombs were found in it, we believe it was looted before we found it.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Step 4: Constructing the Pyramid Base</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Description + tools and resources:</strong></p><p>The Great pyramid of Giza consisted of layers of stone blocks, with the lower layers being larger. Wooden barges transported stone blocks through canals and sluices. Our stage is the most important because without a base for the pyramid, it will all just collapse. </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Challenges:</strong></p><p>They were building the pyramids outside in the middle of the dessert and it would be very hot and tiering for them. This was definitely one of the biggest challenges they faced whilst building the pyramids. </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Facts:</strong></p><p>A fact about the great pyramid of Giza is that they used 6 million tons of bricks were lifted without technology. Around 2.3 million bricks, roughly weighing around 2.5 tons each were used to build the pyramids of Giza.</p>]]></description>

         <title>2. Quarrying (cutting) the stone</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>We would use limestone, granite, basalt, gypsum, and baked mud bricks to build the Pyramids in Egypt. This is because they are strong and last long. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Tools: </strong>They used copper and stone-cutting tools to carve out the blocks in the quarries. Stones can also be cut by copper chisels and hammers. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Challenges: </strong>Some harder stones cannot be cut with copper tools. Therefore, we would have to use time-consuming ways like drilling and sawing. Each stone was around 2500 kg so we had to use sleds likely lubricated by water to transport the stones so they were easier for us to move them. Then we used levers, ramps, and pulleys to move the stone blocks away from the quarry site. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Facts: </strong>Due to the low-advanced technology used at that time, many blocks were detached, and some outer casing stones fell completely from a 1303-strong earthquake.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Step 3: Transporting the stones to the site By Serena &amp; Niki</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Description</strong>: The ancient Egyptians used wooden sleds to transport the stones. Because of the friction of the dry sand, they improvised by adding water, tafla or slake lime to soften and make the surface smoother to transport. However, back in ancient times, the majority of the world believed that like other ancient structures that were commonly built by slaves. The pyramid of Giza wasn't one of them. The pyramid were built by skillful construction workers. These people had a village nearby to live. The village had a wealthy amount of resources. One thing about the stones was that it was suspiciously heavy. Weighing a whopping 2.5 to 15 tons. The stones were nearly impossible for a human to lift, leading to outrageous theories involving aliens. Although these theories may sound true, there is more evidence in the site supporting the fact that Egyptians built the pyramid.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Materials</strong>: </p><p>. wooden sleds</p><p>. ropes</p><p>. Water</p><p>. Slaked lime</p><p>. Tafla</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Facts</strong>: </p><p>. The heaviest stone is 25 to 80 tones which was found above the "King's" chamber</p><p>.The complex structure would've required modern technology to construct.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Challenges</strong>:</p><p>One of the major challenges the builders had to face was having to move such heavy and massive stones. Placing just one stone took around 2-3 minutes.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <title>Step 5: Building the Pyramid&#39;s sides</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Great Pyramid looks like a 4-sided figure, but it is actually a 8-sided figure, each of the sides are evenly split from base to base to tip by very subtle concave intervention. In average most the pyramids have a length of 230m (756 ft). Every side of the pyramid has a slight concavity along the centre, aligned perfectly with the four cardinal points. It uses around 2.3 million bricks, roughly weighing around 2.5 tons.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>The materials</strong> they use were bricks, earth and sand, to reach up to the top they use equipment's like ramps, sledges, rollers and levers.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>The challenge</strong> of building the sides of the Great Pyramids is hard to make sure every side is been built evenly, and to connecting the sides.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Step 7: Constructing the Internal Chambers and Passages </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Description</strong>:</p><p>The internal chambers in the great pyramid of giza consisted of 3 main chambers, along with other passages and staircases. The purpose of the chambers was to store the body and soul of pharaohs, as the Egyptians believed this sent them in to the afterlife well.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Tools and Resources:</strong></p><p>We used a stone cutter and carvers to cut passageways into the pyramids, we used this to cut chambers such as the King’s Chamber, the Queen’s Chamber, and the Sarcophagus which we were going to put King Khufu, but he changed his mind. We also made air ways to allow light to get into the pyramids</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Challenges</strong>: </p><p>Constructing the chambers within and below the pyramids often had many challenges. The tight passageways we had to navigate to reach the internal chambers posed a significant challenge. The airflow while we were working often dropped to life-threatening levels very small holes that allowed air to pass through, putting myself and other workers at risk. In addition, poor cuts in the stone could lead to the chambers collapsing, as the pyramids were constructed from a weak type of limestone.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Interesting Fact:</strong></p><p>The Kings chamber came before the pyramids were built but the King Khufu wanted a massive pyramid for him to die in.</p>]]></description>
