In the book, Eddie comes across as grumpy to others. He is old, and his personality is dry. For an example, when a young girl asks for an animal, he comes across as unfriendly. However, he takes out the pipe cleaners and is prepared to make for those who want. When he makes animals for children, his other side comes out and shows readers how Eddie does have a soft side to him.

On page 26, Eddie was clearly showing signs of old age before his death. He was reliant on his cane, because his body was weakened. He reminisced about the times when he was stronger when he was younger. His age affected his life causing back pain, and leg throbbing. Yet, when he reached heaven, he didn't experience that anymore. He didn't have to rely on his cane, and he felt strong again.

On page 47, After the Blue Man tells Eddie how he died, Eddie feels sorry for being the reason the Blue Man died. Eddie was young and didn't know his actions would have such a big part in someone else life. Instead of being mad at Eddie for being the reason he died, the Blue Man tries to teach Eddie a lesson. He wanted to show Eddie that all lives are connected, even if you don't think so. I think this part of the book is important because the Blue man knows Eddies actions weren't on purpose, and he forgives Eddie for what he did.

On page 49, the Blue Man teaches Eddie the lesson he wanted to tell him. This part stood out to me because I found it interesting how the Blue Man says that there are no random acts. When Eddie was younger at the Blue Mans funeral, he had no idea that he was connected to him. However, he was a huge role in the Blue Mans life, and he had no clue. I find it cool to think about that peoples lives come together in unexpected ways.

On page 62, a lesson is learned. Sometimes doing hard things help you overcome hard times. Going to war is tough, and can be scary. However, Eddie learned a lot of things throughout the war to help change him for the better. Even though all of the things he learned werent easy tasks, it made him stronger.

On page 85, there is foreshadowing. Eddie was shot in his leg by a bullet, and he was told he would never be the same. The captain hasn't told Eddie yet that he is the one that shot him. He tells Eddie about his past with weapons and how he was introduced to weapons early age. As he talks about his past, Eddie still doesn't suspect him to be the one who shot him

Page 93 stuck out to me because sacrifices are something that everyone has to go through. It can be tough but it is necessary in life. Eddie is upset over his sacrifice, but the captain reminds him that everyone has gone through the same thing as well.

I know many people who I would be hurt by not being around them anymore. Eddie had such a huge part at his job, everyone felt lossed without him.

Page 110 is important in the book because it shows readers what Eddie went through, and how it affected his life. Eddies father showed Eddie signs of neglect and violence. Getting treated like that can change the rest of a persons life and affect their future.

I am using page 142 because I think it shows an important theme. Forgiveness is a big thing that I believe in that can be a hard thing to do. It shows it on page 142 that Eddie struggles to do so. Forgiving Eddies father is a hard thing for him to do after everything he went through but with moving on, he was going to have to do something that was hard for him

This moment is a realization for Eddie.

On page 156, it shows how Marguerite values love. Since she chose to surround herself with weddings, it shows shes the type of person who wants to surround herself with love and affection. Her choosing this shows her character and how she values deep connections. Since she died young, and Eddie faced loneliness for the rest of his life, the weddings might show her the love she could of had. Her choosing this as her heaven shows how meaningful her love was to Eddie.

On page 173, Marguerite's words "Life has to end, but love doesn't," are very powerful. Though both Eddie and Marguerite lives end, when they reconnect there love is still there. This quote shows that love is a very meaningful part of life. Unfortunately, death will happen and someone will die, but the love you shared with them will not disappear.

On page 183, many of Eddies birthday are combined onto one page, and they all go fast. Each birthday shows how there is no excitement, showing how he feels stuck in one place. It represents how he feels like he has no purpose. Throughout Eddies life he went through a lot, and lossed a lot. Therefore, each birthday reminds him of what he doesn't have. He feels guilty about his past actions and feels as if he has no value so his birthdays feel boring.

Although Eddie can doubt himself and feel guilty, Tala forgives him and makes him feel better. She shows him how he has a purpose, although he may not feel like it. Even though he didn't know it at the time, his actions affected another ones life deeply.
