The island falls partly into the Bay of Bengal on the east side, though Bangladesh is not a neighbouring country. The only two neighbouring countries of Sri Lanka are India and the Maldives.

Natural Landscape

South Sri Lanka is very mountainous with very cold, damp environments, hosting quite a diverse range of animal species in the wet zone. North Sri Lanka is very flat compared to South Sri Lanka, which is the reason to why the land is used for building big cities. E.g; capital city-Colombo. The whole island has multiple rivers on the edges all carved into the most mountainous area.

Biome Information

The main biome of Sri Lanka is tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests.
